Yes, 'progressive elites' are immune to upholding all principles, even the ones they espouse.

They are busy leading peons to Utopia. No need for worrying about such extra burden.

Mr. Gore, please donate your mansion to me, 'an unprogressive one.' I can make good use out of your mansion without breaking my principles.:-)

Of course - the generic liberal double standard. Massive hypocrisy.

A spokeswoman for Gore said he purchases enough "green power"

What a scam.

Money offsets climate change.

What this says is one can produce as much carbon emissions as one likes as long as one has enough money to purchase green power. So all you millionaires out there fire up that fleet of SUVs.

My electric bill is usually around $100 per month. Gore's is $1300 per month. Gore is preaching against people who waste resources too much. Obviously he must think that people with $1300/month electric bills are just fine, so he must believe that less than $1300/month is even better. By his measurement I figure I'm a saint! It's all you people with $2000/month electric bills who are ruining the planet!

Hey man, Al Gore has his own stamp! I mean how many people you know got their own stamp? So this qualifies him to use a lot of power!

Well, on another Algor thread we thought MSM would never cover it.

But, I notice that the utility is beginning to cast doubt on the source of the data.

If they can prove or insinuate or suggest that his electric bill is not 1200 per month (1199.99 is not 1200) then they can save Algor from embarrassment, get the criminals who dared challenge him, and soon we'll be hearing the true story of just how green Algor is.

The Gores used about 191,000 kilowatt hours in 2006.. that is far more than the typical Nashville household, which uses about 15,600 kilowatt-hours per year.

The difference between 191 K and 15 k isn't "far more", it is twelve times. For Dems the MSM it is whispering understatement, for Republicans hyperventilating hyperboble.

A spokeswoman for Gore said the former vice president invests in enough renewable energy to make up for the home's power consumption.

That's the goofiest thing I have ever heard of?????? With logic like that, I guess, if Big Al turns in three bank robbers he's allowed to rob the next bank?????

The typical liberal attitude. Do as I tell you you should do, not as I do. Like old fart Barbara telling everyone in Mexiforniastan to hang their wash on the line, but not her.

"...the former vice president invests in enough renewable energy to make up for the home's power consumption.

In other words, if you are a wealthy liberal, you can consume/waste as much energy as you want as long as you add a "tip" to the bill.

What a joke!

Living in the Bay Area I know many vegetarians whom don't believe in eating animals. I wonder if eating 'tofu bacon' for breakfast is enough 'offset' to allow chicken for dinner?

Like buying "indulgences" for your sins. You get to keep sinning as long as you have the dough to buy off God. What a freakin' racket.

With the crowd that supports Gore, he is buying indulgences from them when he buys "carbon offsets". Being the useful idiots they are, they are more than happy to give him a pass, no matter how little carbon is really sequestered in his name.

All of this crap about "offsets" is BS. Thats like ordering a Big Mac and super size fries with a diet coke to offset the calories!
Here is an offset I will commit to. I promise not to use a private jet for personal travel for the next 5 years! :)

Just as social conservatives take a painful hit when they violate the moral and ethical beliefs they speak out for, so to must Gore fall on the sword he created.

I just cant believe he thinks it's OK to waste energy as long as you can donate money to an environmental cause. This eco-tithing is the most striking hypocrisy I have seen in years. I bet it is getting zero play in the left-media though. Then again it is Gore, and the media still hates him for capitulating to Bush without starting a civil war in FL.
