No, I was never contacted about the use of this picture. Not sure what legal rights, if any, I have to it.
I agree. And it was quite a dramatic seque.

watching my p's but not my q's : )
She did quote me pretty accurately. I have no problem with that at all. From IMing with Carolyn, I think she was pretty satisfied with her part too.
Thanks for pinging me. I finally got the message. I have no problems with how I was quoted. Here is what I sent the author of the article in an email. This was my "interview".

Andrea:
Carolyn told me of your conversation with her earlier this evening. She told me that you were told that FreeRepublic.com would be there. I am one of the local members of FreeRepublic. We have been holding our anti anti-war/support the troops rally every year that the anti-war rally has taken place. My husband would attend our rallies with me. I think it helped him some to be at them. You see, he was a veteran of Viet Nam. He did two tours over there. When he returned to this country after his second tour, he was called ugly and vicious names and had rotten fruit and vegetables thrown at him. He did nothing wrong. He served his country. My husband passed away almost 3 years ago. The attitude of the anti-war crowd towards the returning soldiers bothered him until the day he died. The different groups who will be converging on Rowan Street Park all are drawn from the same mold as the anti-war crowd of the 60s. They do not like anything having to do with our military, although to make themselves palatable to more people, they will say they support the troops but not their mission. They are talking out of both sides of their mouths.
Another belief that is held by the sponsoring groups of the anti-war cause is that of socialism. They do not like the principals and ideals that this country was founded upon. They do not like the idea that what you get in life has to be earned not just handed out to you.
It will be interesting to see what kind of turnout both sides have. If I didn't have to work, I would love to be in Washington, DC with the DC Chapter of FreeRepublic. They and other like-minded people will turn out to defend the Viet Nam Wall. We don't want the Viet Nam veterans to experience the degradation of having their service reviled again. Our DC Chapter has been supporting our military members every Friday evening for well over a year by greeting the bus as it returns to the hospital with wounded veterans who have been out for the evening with family members. The veterans return to the hospital and see banners of thanks and flags waving. FreeRepublic as a whole has been sending care packages over to the military since the War on Terror began.
I am a military dependent as my husband was retired military. I'm proud of his service. I won't let anyone belittle him or what he did.
I hope I have given you an idea of my motive for planning on being out there on the hillside on March 17th. It is purely patriotism, love of country and pride in my country that will have me out there. I hope this reaches you in time.
Sincerely,
Those people make hard to protest as they constantly crack us up. Of course they don't intend to do it.
Things never mentioned in these articles are that law enforcement can turn their backs to us and not have to worry about what's happening back there, as long as it's only us on that side. Also we leave any area we use cleaner than when we got there.
Yes, two years ago, my son made friends with half the Fayetteville PD and their horses. They let him wander around their cars (with his Dad), reading off the letters and numbers. It really challenged their poker-faces to have the weird little guy chatting up their horses!
Yes. We will be Freeping again. We will be in our usual place by 11 am until............I would suggest getting there early as we will have a parking problem this year. Where we used to park is now a construction site.
Ought I to bring my little PA system again? If so, we'll need cfrr's generator again.
That would be wonderful! I have bought more patriotic songs too. Some are by Manheim Steamroller and others are country.
We need someone who could speak to us briefly in case Dr. Raoul goes to the DC thing. I wouldn't blame him if he does.
This time I'll set up at the top of the hill so we can blast down on the "enemy".
