I hope this hasn't been posted already.

Anywho, bunch of college professors working for Cuba. I wonder if Castro knew there are folks who would have done it or free.

The left will spin this as the worst thing that could happen - 2 people jailed for helping poor Cuba and poor Castro.

There will, of course, be no mention of the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who have died in Castro's jails over the years.

100,000's vs 2 - you decide which is worst.

If these idiots wanted to live in a prison, why didn't they just move to Cuba while they had the chance?

Carlos Alvarez, a psychology professor at Florida International University in Miami, was sentenced to five years in prison.

He admitted that for nearly 30 years he had supplied the Cuban Intelligence Service with information about Miami's exile community, the heart of opposition to Cuban President Fidel Castro and his communist government.

His wife, Elsa Alvarez, a counselor at the school, was sentenced to three years in prison for concealing her husband's actions. Both are Cuban emigres and naturalized U.S. citizens who pleaded guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors said Carlos Alvarez used his university job to meet people that Havana wanted watched. His wife sometimes accompanied him when he traveled to meet with Cuban government agents, and knew he was using their home to relay encrypted messages to Havana, prosecutors said.

U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta said the couple betrayed the oath they took when they became U.S. citizens, which required them to renounce all allegiance to the government of their homeland. "Carlos and Elsa Alvarez paid only lip service to that oath, deciding to secretly serve the interests of a foreign master," Acosta said.

What's with Florida International University? They seem to have repeated, serious problems with their faculty. Spies, traitors, terrorists, not just your usual assortment of leftwing idiots.

Do they lose their citizenship or do they get a Medal Of Honor from the Congress?

Can't we just hand them over to the Cubans? At this stage, living in Cuba makes any US prison look like the Ritz.

Have to wonder what he was convicted of. None of the stories out there are explicit about what the violation was.

They'' get to run for congress as Democrats, of course. If elected they will get named to the house committee on intelligence or on homeland security.
