The book claims climate change is nothing new and declares Howard Government investments in solar power and in cleaning up coal a "complete waste of taxpayers' money"...there's also a recently released book in this country by Pilkey and Pilkey-Jarvis called "Useless Arithmetic: Why Environmentalal Scientists Can't Predict the Future" which looks generally at the misapplication of mathematical models in making predictions beyond their range, and specifically at why climatologists should not be making pronouncements on the future - the authors point that after decades of ever more sophisticated weather models, it's still difficult to predict the weather more than five days ahead with any reliability - the weather rebels are beginning to talk back, it seems......

Of course, if the Academy — a remarkable name for people who paint their faces and pretend they're secret agents or royalty — were truly serious about imminent global warming, it would have asked everyone to turn off their TVs and receive the results by some low-impact Earth-friendly means, such as carrier pigeon. Perhaps such drastic measures will be used in 2008, by which time the oceans will have risen 37 feet and everyone east of Cleveland will be clustered on the roof.
