Heh, my Daddy always said that we were distant kin to Jesse James. His maternal grandmother's maiden name was James, but I never knew much else about his family other than some of their names.

We sure have, Suzi!

Eric enlisted in August, just two weeks before 9/11 and before his senior year in high school.

Now, even with two years 'off' for the war, he's almost done with his junior year in college.

Unfortunately, he'll still have a semester left when he gets deployed again, but plans to get that last semester in after he gets back.

Next time I talk to him, I'll know when and how he's going to re-enlist.

(He's making his decision this week. I may not be able to tell anyone about it, but he had some great options!)

Dear all,

Pippin is off line. She is locked out of FR at work, and her home 'puter is screeching.

From her description, it sounds like a hard drive problem.

She extends her regards to all her FRiends, and will be back as soon as she can. She asked that I post this so y'all wouldn't worry if you didn't see her for a while.

Best,

nully

My nephew, Alexander, was an Apache Longbow pilot, and returned from Afghanistan late last summer. He decided he wanted to join Special Forces, so he went into training for that, completing it not too long ago. His mother may not be too thrilled about it, but my brother, Gerry, is.

Gerry was SO envious of Alexander for being able to fly helicopters. Gerry is an AF Academy graduate, and at the time of his graduation, the Army was offering to train AF pilots on helos. He SO wanted to join that program, but the AF wouldn't let him. He ended up flying C-130's, and stayed in for 10 years, then went to commercial airline flying. He worked for NASA for a while, now he works for the NRO. ;o)

Can you tell me how Andrew likes Special Forces? That's one thing Eric is considering for the future, and it appeals to him a lot, so a first hand opinion would be good to have.

Just in case you have one. :)

MOI have an opinion? How long have we been friends? ;o)

I haven't talked to my brother about Alexander's training, or what was involved. He wasn't an Service Academy grad. He graduated from Johns Hopkins, though I don't know what his major was. I think he was a ROTC guy at Hopkins, and he loved flying the Longbow. He was in Germany for a while, training the Longbow pilots on the Longbow D before he was deployed in Afghanistan.

Well, as you know, Eric has not yet graduated from college, nor will he before he is redeployed, but this is an interest for the future after this deployment and graduation.

So I guess what I'm saying is that you have time to find out.........ya know what I mean? :)

But let me say this.........I am absolutely shocked to know that you have opinions about anything, Suzi. Actually stunned is more the right word..............hehe.........
