1 to 5 ratio of riot cops to rioters and not a single arrest? Someone wasn't trying very hard.
To: CAWats
No arrests? What kind of BS is that?

I think the Watsonville police are getting their training from the Border Patrol.

Maybe I've just missed the news, but does this happen much in the US?

I think we will be seeing more rioting in Northern Mexico, and Mecca West (Michigan) over the next few years.

Riots at concerts go all the way back to the Fifties. I can't speak to any Big Band Era riots, but there has been many Rock Riots. Altamont and the Cincinnati Who crush are some of the notables.

In the Who case, the people mistook a sound check for the actual concert.
It was first come first serve seating and when the sound check started people rushed the doors thinking they were missing the show.

Heh,
I was a few miles outside of Elgin last summer on a Sunday around noon. I was desperate for a Starbucks. There was NONE to be found. Out of desperation, I pulled over to a McDonalds for a cup of coffee.
The place was packed. With the exception of me and an elderly couple, every single person in the place, even the employees, was "hispanic". There was no english being spoken that I was aware of, even as people gave their orders at the counter.
It was surreal.

No arrests? What kind of BS is that? Arrests mean paperwork, which means ID checks, which mean uncomfortable facts about legal status come to light, which mean charges of racism get leveled at the police chief...ah, what the heck - best just forget the whole thing. ;)
