Don't get me wrong. Our young men fighting over there are AWESOME. They do everything we ask them to and more. The problem is that of Islam and Arab v. Persian hatreds that go back millinea. It is, to use a phrase from Hayek a "fatal conceit" to think that we can transform that culture.
We need to figure out a way to declare victory and get out.
That is not what happened in Chicago in the 30s when the FBI "surge" left. Instead the local police force was retrained, and inserted in strategic locations. The FBI gave the police force the breathing room they needed to get organized (and showed them that the situation was not hopeless). Same thing here.
I pray your right, I would not mind one damn bit to be wrong on this one.

If we leave before that country can govern itself and sustain itself and defend itself, there will be chaos. Well their societies seemed to be able to help themselves. I just feel like we are the international suckers - and yes I do have a problem with muslim countries.
