Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee Announces Bill Simon To Join Team As Director of Policy
New York, Feb 26 - The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee announced today that Bill Simon, co-chairman of William E. Simon & Sons, LLC and former California Republican gubernatorial nominee, has joined the team as Director of Policy
"I am pleased my good friend Bill Simon has joined our campaign team, Mayor Rudy Giuliani said. Bill and I have long shared a vision for the future."
Mr. Simon has a long and distinguished career in law, business and public policy. He is co-chairman of William E. Simon & Sons, LLC, an investment firm, which he co-founded in 1988 with his father, William E. Simon, Sr., a former United States Treasury Secretary, and his brother J. Peter Simon. He has given speeches to numerous conservative organizations including the Heritage Foundation, Manhattan Institute, Conservative Political Action Conference and the Pacific Research Institute. In addition, he has appeared regularly on FOX News and written articles for the American Spectator and NewsMax.com. He also currently serves as co- chairman of the Cynthia L. and William E. Simon, Jr. Foundation, which helps needy children in urban areas through faith-based efforts. Simon entered the political arena in 2001 as a Republican gubernatorial nominee in California. Early in his career, Simon worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York with Mayor Giuliani, who was then the United States Attorney for the Southern District.

Just another RINO.
;-)
Rudy will be running hard to the right. This should be interesting, to say the least. Good pickup and good strategy.
Great news!
I'll watch as the ragers throw yet another good conservative under the bus and call him a RINO. LOL
For a second I thought it said PAUL Simon...
Very interesting. The Rudy campaign now has legs!
Bill Simon is an abortion-loving, fetus-eating, gay-loving, treasonous liberal! /s

Well, we have had our problems in California with gub candidates saying one thing when they run, and doing something very different when they get in office....let us hope that Simon does not have that widespread disease.
IMHO, all Rudy needs now is one solid endorsement from a movement conservative, and the nomination is just about wrapped up. It can't be Newt, because I believe that newt will be his VP, and it would look too self-serving..But say, Tom Coburn..
Bill's late father, former Treasury Secretary Simon, is a hero of mine for explaining the circumstances of New York's 1976 bond default in his book "A Time for Truth." The kid is cut from a similar bolt of cloth.
Newt's comments about Rudy were about the highest accolades a politician can ever get.
I don't think Newt will be the VP; I think Rudy will choose a southerner or flyover country conservative.
Rudy would have to make a major stumble at this point to get kicked out of his front-runner status and I read an article the other day that said Republicans tend to stick with their frontrunners. And since we've had so many more Republican presidents than Democrats (in my lifetime), I don't think it will change this time around either.
The true conservative suicide squads are scrambling from their bases to attack this thread.
---and, IIRC, the senior Simon was a collector of registered machine guns,---
PKMom, get on that! :-)
Next up, Art Garfunkel.
I think Newt would be a good conservative choice for VP...BUT, Rudy needs a "clean" conservative..from the south or something.
The GOP shouldn't have 2 men with "controversial" personal lives on the same ticket.
It will be very interesting to what he says at CPAC this week.
You can paint 'conservative' all over a pig, if you want, but you still have just a pig, and a mess to clean up.
