...your prolific opinions are without benefit of actually having read Zumbo's initial words nor his subsequent "apologies"...

Show me where Zumbo called you or any other gunowner a 'terrorist', using that word. That's what's being discussed here. If you can't do that- without equivocation or extrapolation- I'll take your apology, on Zumbo's behalf.

...he's simply compounding the error...

Crap. He's apologised for his mistake and he deserves a break, especially considering his fine contributions previously.

I guess none of you fingerpointing blowhards never said anything you wish you could take back?

Crap... you fingerpointing blowhards

Let me see in your very first post to me you've stated that my post was "crap" and that I'm a "fingerpointing blowhard" You've called the people who said that Dumbo Zumbo called them terrorists because of their weapons liars by saying he said no such thing (when he did)

At this point the question becomes do you deserve a polite response, or should I just tell you troll your invincible ignorance and loudmouthed stupidity back to DU and gfy. I kind of think you deserve the latter. If you're a typical "Aussie", then it's obvious why your government was able to strip your fundamental right of self defense away from you.

I agree with you... and I will say this for Zumbo... when we whacked him he didn't turn around and say "Screw all of you... you need to obey your masters and shut your holes" like the Hollywood elite might.

He was contrite, and apologetic. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be consequences for him, just that in the end, I think he's truly reformed.

And that ain't the same as a 'governmental ban', is it?

Actually it is exactly the same.

And just for the record when a Bushmaster AR-15 was used in the DC area sniper attacks, Bushmaster did not close up their shop and just go away.

They're still in business cranking out excellent AR clones.

The original US "terrorists" who didn't care to go along with gun bans

"I say game departments should ban them from the praries and woods,"

I haven't followed the matter deeply and I just skimmed your link, but if he's saying certain weapons should be restricted for hunting that's not as unforgiveable as saying certain weapons should be restricted for self-defense or shooting in general.

Zumbo has screwed up big-time, and I don't see anyone taking him seriously for the rest of his career (if there is any). Hunting with Ted Nugent, preferably with nothing but ARs and AKs, ought to adjust his carburetor enough so folks don't call him "Bwana" anymore.

As for forgiveness, I suggest a reading or rereading of Matthew 18:22-35.

Bad idea really. Shoulda informed the guy that the Second Amendment ain't about hunting and left it at that. Maybe make him write on the board 100 times...

In this kind of political climate I think saying anything negative about gun ownership is a hanging offense.

We're at an important point here with regard to the rights of citizens and the second amendment. There is now abundant data which shows that gun bans do nothing to reduce crime while they do inhibit the right of law abiding citizens to defend themselves. But time after time the political classes feel that they can ignore the data, and the written law of the land to disarm the people, making them easier to rule.

Well sacrificing someone like Jim Zumbo says that there is already enough political will to mount a good fight, and if the next time they try to ignore the US constitution they are going to end up with a bunch of tea floating in the harbor.

At the end of the day we are saying that we reserve the right to use force to subvert tyranny, and the political classes are saying the same thing they have always said... that we must learn to live with tyranny whether we like it or not. They try to erode our right to resist them one grain of sand at a time. And the reaction Jim Zumbo got should indicate to them that we've given the last grain of sand that they'll get without a fight.

The reaction Jim Zumbo got says that from this line we do not step back... that we will not retreat. We will stand here at this last line and defend our rights together, as free men. We can not be divided and conquered, and we will not abandon our brothers.

The evidence is on our side, and we now demand that they heed it and act in the interests of the people instead of the interests of those in government. It's time for the political classes to begin giving us back our rights, and with them, control over our own destiny.

Yeah, but was he saying something about gun ownership or game management and hunting safety?

I mean in a crowded field I don't have a problem with making people think about what they are aiming at and working a bolt to fire a second shot.

When you dance in a mine field you might get blown up. I don't think his intent matters. He was engaging in dangerous talk at a dangerous time, and now he's paying the price.

Although to his credit, he has been contrite and apologetic... not at all like a liberal in that regard. I personally think he may be welcomed back eventually, after his behavior has shown that he clearly and demonstrably is on our side.

the faceless suits at those companies threw Zumbo to the wolves to prevent any risk, to their bottom line.

Perhaps. They are learning how large and passionate a group RKBA-ers are.

Zumbo used the phrase, "hunting fraternity".

He probably doesn't like target shooters either, some of them might use a semi.

After Zumbo's decades of positive contributions to hunting..... he made a mistake, he apologised for it, but everyone wants their pound of flesh.

I agree it's sad, but it had to be.

Zumbo used his position to call for the banning of guns and indirectly called millions of Americans terrorists.

"He wanted black rifles out of hunting because of bad PR, you're complaining the brady bunch used Zumbo for bad PR."

Wow, that's amazing logic.

I want one writer out who spreads anti gun rhetoric that is used by the antis
So that's equivalent to zumbo wanting all "assault weapons" out of hunting everywhere in the US, affecting millions of hunters.

So are you in australia???

Zumbo is an elderly gentleman who has been in the woods hunting for many decades. He is used to seeing and using 30/30s and 30odd6s and other more traditional hunting rifles. The fad to use black military rifles on hunting trips is relatively recent - - not something that was typical in the '50s, '60s, '70s, or '80s.

So, apparently Zumbo is elderly and gets upset with newfangled trends. Gee, surprise, surprise. (Like I said in an earlier post, I too find the trend tacky.) Zumbo's big foot-in-mouth moment came when he said that "game departments should ban them (military rifles) from the praries and woods". I think this was just his misguided way of blubbering about how upset he was.

He has apologized profusely, and I believe sincerely, and I think people should cut the old guy a break. Flame away.

I know about how old he is, also know he claimed to know something about Remington firearms. So you need to check what a Remington Woodsmaster does. And after you look at the weapon, think what it would look like with a big magazine and a black plastic stock. Then maybe he didn't know squat about Remington rifles after all.
