He was living in a bubble and fancied himself the Great White
Hunter not wanting Assault Rifle Owning RifRaf to be Hunters like him.

Well, his potential value as friend or enemy is uncertain. Just remember, this is in large part a PR battle, and the verdict is in the hands of a very malleable, uninformed electorate. Forgiving him may be more profitable PR wise than delivering the death blow. Conversely, he may be totally useless to both sides. Or reversing direction may show weakness. In those cases, your strategy is correct.

The bottom line?

The guy basically called me a terrorist because I choose to defend my home and property with more than harsh language and bright lights.

Where he my age and within reach, I would simply kick his ass.

His greatest flaw is that he seems to have a fundamental misunderstanding of the Second Amendment. The Amendment is not limited to hunting. And in his apology, he seems to continue to misunderstand this basic concept.

The Second Amendment isn't about hunting or even self defense. It is about defense of the free state. Not only does the free state require an armed populous for defense, it also requires an armed populous to keep it in check. An unarmed population is a blank check for tyranny.

...they wanted to be in a welcoming environment. I don't blame them in the least for severing the relationship...

Codswallop. Remington sold Zumbo out through sheer cowardice.

And if there was ever a mass shooting such as the one described in Enemies Foreign and Domestic they'd sell the black gun bunch out, twice as fast.

...I can see that my senility comment was "right on"...

Your senility comment- that because Zumbo's 'over 60', he must be senile- was utter crap. And so's the rest of your post.

The idea that Zumbo was taught a lesson by the RKBA crew is nonsense. Zumbo had some big sponsorships, and the faceless suits at those companies threw Zumbo to the wolves to prevent any risk, to their bottom line. They would do exactly the same to any segment of the firearms fraternity if conditions were right.

...his apology wasn't a real apology...

His apology was as genuine as could be expected, given that he was under financial threat when making it. I'll tell you what Flashbunny, it was a lot more real that some of the chest beating and posing on this thread. And I reckon when things settle down more than a few good-hearted gun owners will be ashamed of how Zumbo was treated.

Finally, some commonsense.

So he couldn't issue a real, genuine apology because he was feeling that his livelihood was threatened? Pretty dang weak excuse.

BTW, within hours his words were used as fodder by the brady bunch against "assault weapons". You give aid and comfort to the enemy, you don't get the welcome home of the prodigal son.

Ha! What nonsense. Hopefully Zumbo's CCW, and you'd end up with in a drawer with a tag on your toe.

This is the key to the great "scared" apology:

"Let me explain the circumstances surrounding that blog. I was hunting coyotes, and after the hunt was over and being beat up by 60 mph winds all day, I was discussing hunting with one of the young guides. I was tired and exhausted, and I should have gone to bed early. When the guide told me that there was a "huge" following of hunters who use AR 15's and similar weapons to hunt prairies dogs, I was amazed. At that point I wrote the blog, and never thought it through."

Yep, he was tired. He wouldn't want to have AR and AK pattern rifles banned from hunting if he had a full nights sleep!

He wouldn't have called them "terrorists rifles" and lump their owners in with them if he had spent the night on a wonderful select comfort bed!

"Codswallop."

Remington Arms most certainly did relocate to Madison, North Carolina from Wilmington, Delaware, after they were spun off from E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, and went private, due to anti-gun hostility in Delaware and a welcoming environment in rural North Carolina. If it's "selling out" and "cowardice," to sever ties with a writer who terms a product they manufacture a "terrorist" weapon, I just wonder how you'd define courage.

Do you like being called a terrorist by somebody who's supposedly on your side? I sure as hell don't.

Ayone who calls military looking rifles assult rifles is an idiot who knows nothing about firearms. And knows nothing about the second amendment either.

Well, maybe, don't know much about him; BUT he made the huge mistake of pressing "Enter" when a bit steamed up, we've all done it but his audience is/was huge so he brought it upon himself and, as a professional writer in the wired world should've known better.

What is the "firearms fraternity"?

A fancy way of saying "gun nut," judging from some of the other comments in the same post.

He said that 'black rifles' and the like were 'terrorist weapons which have no place in the woods or prairies' and they should be 'banned' from those places by Government.

And the 'firearms fraternity' is basically a euphemism for the shooting community which is composed of roughly 90 million Americans.

Zumbo deserves everything he got.
