His apology was as genuine as could be expected, given that he was under financial threat when making it. I'll tell you what Flashbunny, it was a lot more real that some of the chest beating and posing on this thread. And I reckon when things settle down more than a few good-hearted gun owners will be ashamed of how Zumbo was treated.
So he couldn't issue a real, genuine apology because he was feeling that his livelihood was threatened? Pretty dang weak excuse.
BTW, within hours his words were used as fodder by the brady bunch against "assault weapons". You give aid and comfort to the enemy, you don't get the welcome home of the prodigal son.
This is the key to the great "scared" apology:
"Let me explain the circumstances surrounding that blog. I was hunting coyotes, and after the hunt was over and being beat up by 60 mph winds all day, I was discussing hunting with one of the young guides. I was tired and exhausted, and I should have gone to bed early. When the guide told me that there was a "huge" following of hunters who use AR 15's and similar weapons to hunt prairies dogs, I was amazed. At that point I wrote the blog, and never thought it through."
Yep, he was tired. He wouldn't want to have AR and AK pattern rifles banned from hunting if he had a full nights sleep!
He wouldn't have called them "terrorists rifles" and lump their owners in with them if he had spent the night on a wonderful select comfort bed!
Then I guess I'm a hard hearted SOB because I sure don't cotton to anyone calling me a terrorist.
L
Don't count on that. Some may forgive him, but it will not be with any remorse because Zumbo crossed so far over the line with the remark about "terrorist" and that government should ban semi-automatic rifles he deserves what he gets. He revealed himself as a fraud so any forgiveness coming his way from gun owners will not be out of chagrin for calling a spade a spade.
Only the liberal ones. Freedom lovers are in the fight of our lives with the the (rhymes with hunt) Carolyn McCarthy and the other Democraps pushing a sweeping ban of those very weapons that Dumbo Zumbo dismissed as terrorist weapons. His elitist "guns are for hunting" attitude is what the gun ban crew say also. So if he made a "mistake" it was publishing his true feelings. The 2nd amendment isn't about hunting it's about being able to successfully resist tyranny.
His apology was as genuine as could be expected
Oh and I read both versions of his so called apology. In it he stated that he didn't realise that semi-autos "had legitimate sporting purposes" which isn't what gun ownership in the USA is about and showing that he still isn't admitting that what he said is wrong. He's simply compounding the error.
