We're in Kennesaw, Cobb near Cherokee County. I chose my screen name just because I liked it, and usually I'm the one who's looking up at the sky and the man in the moon. My husband thinks it might have been space junk, but whatever it was, it was the brightest biggest thing - besides the space shuttle which I was fortunate enough to see fly overhead one night in Miami. I googled "meteor over Georgia", and this was the only site I found that mentioned this event.

As you might expect, among the thousands posting here are quite a few skywatchers.

And a few of us do it for a living. :-)

I will say this but one more time. Leave this guy's thread alone.

I pictured you as more a listener than a watcher. (grin) Once upon a time I visited Greenbank. That was a fascinating learning experience.

There will be a solar eclipse in a few days.

Also, there is the conclusion of a total lunar eclipse coming up on Saturday evening, March 3, for those living in the eastern U.S. The middle of the eclipse occurs at 6:21 p.m.;total eclipse ends at 6:58 p.m.; Moon leaves umbra at 8:12 p.m.; and Moon leaves penumbra at 9:26 p.m. All those times are Eastern Standard Time.

The Saturday evening forecast for my area promises mostly cloudy skies. Sigh.

a bump.

My son is an artist and wishes he could've seen it. So do i.
No matter how i may try, the brilliance is inescapable in explanation.
I am fully aware that it was only junk burning in the sky-
it was just so beautiful.
