We live in western North Carolina, and earlier tonight around about 8:30 my son witnessed a shooting star whish appeared to travel from west to east.

It happens pretty quickly. Lucky you happened to be outside at that moment and looking the right way.

I've seen many, many meteors over the years, but never one that bright. When I was younger I used to lie on the dock or the beach in the summer and watch the Perseids. You might get a faint one every few minutes.
