The ground is slushy, but there hasn't been any rain in a while. We were supposed to get 1-3 inches with precipitation all day. Didn't happen. When the finally let me go, there wasn't anything new on my car.

I was called in the second jury pool, this after roll call and sitting for an hour waiting. Then to a courtroom and waiting for the first 24 to be called and seated...they use a squirrel cage with names on pieces of paper. Then the rest of us were given numbers using the same method. I was #40...and always in the past if you aren't picked, and eventually dismissed, you are done for the week. Would that be the method for the only time I had a high #....OF COURSE NOT! The judge said we are on "Recall"...we must call again tonight. Then the lawyers asking the same things over and over and over. The defense lawyer came back again and again and again to a PD detective, asking and asking questions. WHY, WHEN EVERYONE IN THE COURTROOM KNEW HE WOULD BE DISMISSED!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally at 11:30a they let us out for 15 minutes, not to come get us til 12:05p.
Then the judge dismissed 12 potential jurors with the lawyers peremptory challenges. That left 12 and the judge took the next 7 #s and dismissed the rest of us.
Back to the office about 1p and now a full day of work. It IS Monday, you know. d:o)

I must be invisible! : Hold that thought! Jury duty can be fun, or it can be an opportunity to witness the nasty underbelly of humanity.
I sat one where we had a hard time convincing two teachers to convict the defendant. They just didn't want to send him to prison even though they were fairly sure he was guilty.
After we convicted, I told them he had been acquitted of the same type of crime - kidnapping, rape, ag/assault - two weeks earlier. They said if they'd known that, they'd have had no problem sending him away!
Ah well, all's well...

Mrs. HJ sat a case where one neighbor sued another for noise harassment. His windmill squeaked at all hours, day and night...
The judge threw the case out after 30 minutes of testimony.

I humbly request your prayers.
My doctor just called with the results of the echocardiogram I had done last week.
The cause of the heart murmur is probably a slight thickening of one of the valves. He is not too worried about that.
But they also noticed that the heart muscle in one section is weaker than the rest.
Possible cause: a "silent" heart attack at some point.
They are going to schedule a consult for me with a cardiologist; I will most likely have a stress test and some sort of scan. If they don't like what they see a heart catherization will probably take place within a week.
I will find out tomorrow when the consult will take place.
I am not a happy camper.

No, it is not a Jensen...
It is an Iso Grifo, designed by Goitto Bizzarini (Ferrari designer) and built by Renzo Rivolta.

I seem to have an asterik next to my name. I think I get called as often as allowed.....and the parking garage where we park is 3 blocks away....BRRRRR cold, the walk. And it has warmed up some now.
The last Fed jury, 6+ weeks, was a bank that went under a bunch of years back. The guy on trial was a VP and did all sorts of things that broke the law as the judge explained the law. We had boxes and boxes and boxes of paperwork to go thru, and we finally hung, 11-1, because one refused to admit that the black and white had been broken. A second trial got a convicton! *sigh*
