The 20 Rarest Muscle Cars

Among muscle cars, there always were a few that, for whatever reason were a little more rare than others. This list shows the rarest factory built production muscle cars. These are cars that ANY buyer could walk into ANY dealer and conceivably order. One off cars for company executives, dealer modified cars (Yenkos, Baldwin-Motion, etc.) and purpose built race cars (427 Cobras) are not included. Cars are ranked by total built by year, model, body style, and engine. Transmission breakouts are also shown, if known. Further breakdowns (by color, options, accessory) are either impossible to get or impractical. Note that by their nature, Hemi Convertibles are widely represented on this list. Convertibles represented everything that the typical muscle car buyer didn't want - a higher price, more weight, and generally lower top speed. Add to that the high performance (and high price tag) for the Hemi engine, and it is no surprise that Hemi Convertibles are the most rare of all muscle cars. In fact, throughout the Hemi era (1966-1971), Chrysler built 8,420,000 cars, yet only 179 of them (1 out of every 47,000) were Hemi convertibles. Truly, as a group, these were the most rare of the rare.

Good Morning Troops, FRiends, and fellow Canteeners!
Be sure and read S-L-O-W so you won't out run my world class 28KBps connection.
Well, after a very warm weekend (88 yesterday) we are going to cool off a bit - but just a little. Low 70's today.
It looks like summer may arrive a bit early this year in Dixie.
I do hope everyone has a GRAND day!

Morning Meg. We are headed for the mid 80 range today. It's in the low 50's now, and I'm waiting to get out and get some things done. I'd post this as a thread, but bet the mods would pull it in a hurry.

Some Leander residents are outraged by a local church’s marketing campaign (Better sex)

Here is the first paragraph.

It is not what you would expect to see on a church billboard, two sets of feet peeking out from under bed sheets or what you would expect to hear in church.

Circa 1978, my brother bought a 1970 Challenger 440 6-Pack while a junior in high school. Same as here, the bright lime green with black vinyl roof, although with some kind of black fade/stripe decal on the sides.

My mom basically had a coronary when he pulled into the driveway with that "hideous" thing. All that work gardening, making our house and property the pride of the neighborhood... and then dumping that lime green monster in the middle of it.

(And of course our house became hot-rod central for all the local hoods after that.. another thing Mom loved. Not.)

I'll never forget that car... me a fifteen-year-old, no driver's license yet (yeah, like my bro would let me drive it). Those hard-as-a-rock black leather seats, the spartan interior, the 8-track player with the Jensen coaxial speakers, the smell of Armour-All, pine tree air freshener and weed...

It was a garage queen for the first couple of months, then my brother finally took it out for the first cruise one night. Five of us crammed in there, we kept bothering him to "Open it up, man!" He finally said, "All right, hold on" and roared the beast into life, drag strip-style.

And passed a cop within the first 5 seconds, and got caught. Five seconds, true story.

The car was a bit of a headache for him, and he sold it a year later because he was going to college. I don't remember what he sold it for, but it wasn't more than a few thousand in 1979 dollars.

Of course he kills himself now whenever reminded how rare the car was and how expensive it is now... in fact, a year or two after he sold it he got an out-of-the-blue call from some southern guy who heard through the grapevine my brother owned a 440 6-Pack... guy said he would have offered him the moon for it, etc.
