Just what ARE Rudy's qualifications that make him the "BEST man to lead as CIC?"
Please, I'd really like to know.
Do none of our other Republican candidates even compare to Rudy's superior military/war experience and knowledge?
Help me out Torie. I'm confused. I was under the impression that Conservatives absolutely loathed the UN. With good, no, great cause, I might add. Because everything Conservatives despise internationally is prominent at the UN.
You would think one who gave the UN as many headaches as Giuliani might get at least a "way to go Rudy".
So why when I show how only Giuliani took aim at the UN, like no other politician in America, with the NY Times, the Liberal establishment and even the dear ole State Dept targeting him for being a menace to international relations, my post gets no response.
Would it help if I could prove that a UN delegate whose car he towed might have been Gay? And or French?
I always suspected. Chancy Gardner is that you?
I don't think Hillery is going to sustain very good numbers once she gets out on the campaign trail - even with the MSM's help. The Hollyweird crowd is already turning on her. I think she will bow out with some "excuse".
The names I would watch are Obama, Edwards & a possible surprise move by Gore.
No one gives a shit about the UN anymore. Frankly, I may be the only somewhat pro UN poster on FR, and I think Rudy is a great guy, nevertheless. I like guys that are decisive, go for the jugular, and just do it, albeit suffused with good judgment, as to the end game. (Thinking through the end game is job one.It just has to be.) Go figure.
I can assure you that I will not cast a vote for this candidate. He does not seem to understand nor endorse the Bill of Rights, the Second Ammendment in particular.
Is the UN still in NY?
If yes then Rudy hasn't done a damn thing.
Lots of people piss and moan about it, but none have kicked them out.
Rudy has a better shot at it than the average American, but he has done nothing.
Who is Clancy Gardner? Is that meant to be a wet kiss, or a bitch slap?
Honestly, it's not all that hard to understand, if one applies Occam's razor.
2. He wants uniform federal handgun licensing. Presumably, like NY city. Which means it will be next to impossible for the average (non politically connected / celebrity) citizen to buy or own a handgun.
You forgot, he wants to regulate guns "consistent with the second amendment":
Seems I'm completely out of touch. I still despise every brick in that building.
I live in New York City and wish to obtain and carry a gun legally.
That makes me a gun-grabber?
Doesn't work if you are not familiar with the work.
Political satire- "Being There".
It does when you want to penalize the rest of the country with a really bad law - one that will make it more difficult for them to own and get guns -= in order to get a gun of your own.
Just curious. Do you know how many of you that are supporting Rudy are from NYC?
You wanting to change Federal Law that hurts almost every other person's right to carry makes you a POS.
Move out of NY or change the NY State laws, just leave the rest of us alone and tell Rudy to stay home.
You are a LIBERAL and are just distrupting here.
Toughmindedness and ability to get the job done are two of the most important. He took on the mob and got convictions of hundreds of them. This is no small task and involves attention to detail and the ability to convince people. Since the greatest failure of the Bush administration lies in its inability to communicate with the People Rudy would provide a welcome alternative. Bush has the same toughmindenness and willingness to ignore the media.
Since he is being considered for an executive office having great executive ability is another compelling aspect of Rudy's appeal. I know you do not agree but I do consider him a man of his word and with integrity. How many times would he have been praised for taking more liberal stances while Mayor yet refused to knuckle in and do what he knew was wrong?
As to knowledge it does appear to me that he is more intelligent than those opposing him whom I have heard speak and has familiar grasp of almost any issue he is presented with.
Now I don't know if he is the "best" man but I see no one better with even a tiny chance of getting the nomination. And I know he is better than ANY Democrat far better than most.
Hmmm. But then "the fool" in King Lear was the wisest of them all. :)
There is currently no Federal law that permits private individuals to carry guns.
If there was one, I would take out a license, buy insurance, and purchase a pistol legally in NYC.
As I said, those living in states with more favorable laws can carry on as before.
I don't think any of the other candidates have stared the Democrats down in a city controlled by them, and managed to balance having to do business with them with having to stand by his crime-fighting and tax-cutting principles.
Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, a person with very similar political views, and note how much less successful he was at a very similar task to understand why Giuliani's supporters show tremendous respect for the man.
His post-9/11 conduct was also the sign of a real leader.
I don't think anyone in a dirty-fighting city can keep himself completely clean, and so the people who talk about his workers not being 100% angels don't disturb me much.
I respect those for whom abortion, gun control and illegal immigration are big issues. But I think he's by far the best candidate on what I consider to be the most important issues - the war on terrorism and the war for tax cuts and a freer economy.
I hope this was helpful to you.
D
I will also bet that you don't know $hit about guns either.
