they understand, what many freepers do not, that the base alone cannot elect a president. not even close.

the party is being pushed into a corner. what do you do with a base that refuses to be part of a coalition that can elect a president (or in many states, governors and senators), but isn't big enough on its own to do so.

its a formula for being in the political wilderness for a generation.

If the alternative is electing a GOP leadership that essentially embraces socialism, then I don't see why conservatives should care one way or the other. If the GOP loses badly enough, it might even allow for another political party to take it's place as the opposition.
