He is also a diehard supporter of the idiot, Jim Zumbo, who recently committed professional suicide by lableling black rifles as "assault weapons" and their owners as "terrorists".
Those in the RKBA society are aware of what I speak.
He also put a post in his forum, to the effect:
"If you cannot forgive and forget Zumbos treason and accept his apology unconditionally, then get the hell away from my campfire."
I was amazed at the number of Nuge Forum participants that did just that.
Nugent has been a supporter and ally of the hunting society, as was Zumbo, but their mistake is in assuming that their celebrity would allow their mistaken notion that the 2d Amendment is only about hunting to be taken as gospel by their readers and so-called followers.
I believe both Mr. Nugent and Mr. Zumbo have become painfully aware of just how passionate the RKBA advocates are in the defense of their weapons and their dislike of labels and name calling, simply because they prefer a weapon that differs from the hand-engraved, rare-wood stocked, bolt action, so-called "hunting" rifles.
Mr. Nugent may just be a bit of a snob and would be shocked if told that.
Did which? Accept Zumbo's apology or leave Ted's campfire?
Hey, I love the Nuge but if wants to get surly about it then his fire can just go out.
No man stands above the 2nd Amendment.
Bump to post #6.
Yeah, he could have just left this issue alone...And I lost a lot of respect for Ted and his entourage...
If he'd have just cancelled this near-future hunting trip with Jim Zumbo...I would not have particularly damned him for it...I know he and Zumbo are friends, but Zumbo expressed his (not surprising) opinion about "gun owners who are not necessarily hunters" section of the RKBA community...
I would never, and have never, and will never damn or condemn the gun-owning hunting community, even if I get tossed for saying all of this...But if you guys and gals in that community think any of your "sporting firearms" will be free from any future bans or restrictions of anykind...
hehehe, have I got a deal for you...
I have several firearms on this proposed "hit list" with H.R. 1022 and you can bet your bottom dollar I had no intention of owning or posessing these weapons from day one for any hunting purpose...
I have no reason (morally or philosophically) to comply with a law that infringes on a basic, and founding, "inalienable right" afforded in our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence...
Now, hopefully we can defeat this before it comes to that...
But what Jim Zumbo did, and what Ted's giving a pass on is not helping at all what we are rightfully going to fight against...And I have my doubts about how well the gun owning community (as a whole) will come together to defend this "inalienable right"...
I know Ted Nugent lurks in these websites, and he is more than welcome to rightfully challenge me on my opinion...And I will still think very well of him regardless (it'll be a challenge)...But like I said, I just lost a lot of confidence in his ability to sustain a credible force in helping us maintain the RKBA, for whatever reason, and with whatever means, in his visible station in the NRA...
All I know is, is that I have the same attitude and conviction as Dr. Suzzana Hupp did when she addressed that congressional committee years ago...And that video of her, and that last part of ther statement is exactly what is at stake here...
And I might not be as nice and collected as she was...
Good riddance.
If some holier-than-thou jerks can't forgive Zumbo, after his apology, and after all the positive things he's done for hunting, toss 'em.
