My guitars are in a temporary, well-deserved state of suspended animation following the most outrageous rhythm and blues rock-n-roll audio orgy since the invention of Me too. Every night on stage for more than 45 years, I have celebrated a gung ho musical adventure.
It's the likes of which could erupt only from the primal inspiration of my black heroes: Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Mose Allison, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, (I'll let you tell Jerry Lee he isn't black), Wilson Picket, Sam and Dave, Freddy King, Albert King, B.B. King, the mighty Motown Funkbrothers and, of course, his majesty, James Brown.
Where on earth does an old guitarboy like me get all this piss and vinegar, spirit and attitude at the tender age of 58?
I'll tell you where, write this down children (and all you old folk too): discipline.
Good-old fashioned, be-the-best-that-you-can-be American Dream discipline.
Fifty-eight years clean and sober. How cool, but more importantly, how simple is that? Totally. Can't get that smile off my face.
Enter the wonderful world of firearms fun. That's correct. My father, God bless his U.S. Army drill sergeant soul, not only taught me gun safety and exciting marksmanship discipline, he parented it upon me.
This, of course, used to be almost universal "responsible parenting 101."
All one has to do is look around to see the slovenly, disheveled, fat, disconnected, rude, pierced, Ozzy-zombie-like youth so prevalent today to witness the tragedy of abandoned discipline and, so often, horrifically plain lousy parenting.
Such soulless conditions have permeated every nook and cranny of our society. It boggles the mind how careless so many Americans have become.
It says a lot when a nation is constantly squallering and bellyaching about how they deserve "health care" when so many conduct themselves knowingly and intentionally in daily suicidal behavior that proves they clearly do not care about their health one bit.
Weird, Planet-of-the-Apes behavior, the way I see it. Pray for America. She needs it.
But alas! Celebrate that absolute family quality of life that is indeed alive and well across the hinterland.
Thank God that the good still outweighs the bad and the ugly is out there, literally, out there.
As in the great outdoors.
I am honored and privileged to proudly represent the most wonderful grassroots American family organizations to be found anywhere.
And the upgrade of youthful discipline is looking better everyday. Those same powerful lessons in accountability that my mom and dad brought home to us kids can be found in the great Big Brothers and Big Sisters, National Rifle Association, Texas Rifle and Pistol Association, the spectacular 4H programs, Texas Parks and Wildlife Youth Hunter program, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Safari Club International, Dallas and Houston Safari Clubs, National Shooting Sports Foundation, our Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids and a plethora of youth oriented charities too numerous to list here.
What all these volunteer-run operations have in common is their successful youth firearms training and shooting programs.
I cannot overemphasize the irrefutable positives that occur when a kid is shown the basics of firearms discipline and the always intense fun therein.
With the tsunami of evidence pouring in nationwide, more and more kids across America are discovering and rejoicing in this time-honored family outdoor shooting fun.
The Olympic-class challenge of breathing, sight acquisition and trigger-control bring a "Zen" like higher level of awareness to every participating youngster, who naturally craves such individual excellence.
Like the enormous "win-win" successes of the National Archery in Schools programs, the shooting sports do indeed "cleanse the soul."
Look what it did for this wild guitarboy from Detroit.
Jimi got high and Jimi is dead. I went shooting, and I'm still Ted. Go figure.
I think I'll go clean my guitars and my guns, again. See ya at the range.
Find dedicated and professional shooters who will steer you in the right direction in central Texas and the Waco area, at Brazos Feed & Supply, Keith's ACE Hardware stores, LoneStar Music and Archery, Praco Pawn Shop, Guns-R-Us, the Waco Gun Club at the Waco Airport, deertexas.com, and tednugent.com to discover a long list of organizations dedicated to introducing America's youth to the discipline upgrade of the shooting sports. It's everywhere for everyone.
Ted Nugent is a Waco-based rock musician and outdoors TV host.
Here, use my magnesium bar. I'll go fetch some more wood. ; )
Alright then, Be back in a bit. =-)
Before we 2nd Amendment supporters do a repeat of the last election, perhaps we should remind ourselves that we are
'brothers in arms' in the battles with gun grabbers.
To attack, rather than instruct, prominent 2nd Amendment supporters whenever they err will certainly gladden the warped, shrunken hearts of the gun grabber poopulation(that's a pun, not a typo).
My son & I saw him at our state fair acouple of yrs ago. He was great! The whole crowd was rockin', although some liberals were upset with his pro troops, USA, comments. He shot an arrow right into the heart of Sadamm Huissain(sp).
I was 4 mos preg at the time, and I wonder if Ol' Ted's show had an affect on the munchkin-to-be, since she's as Gonzo and wild as old Ted.
As for elections; I will never vote for a gun grabber. Which leaves Gudy Ruiliani, McStain and Mitt out of the picture.
gun-nuts bump!
So much for Deadly Tedly
Sorry I wasn't clear.
From what I could fathom thru the myriad of flamers, azzhats and idiots, the majority told him that his campfire wasn't quite warm enough.
I expect that was from a large number of the newbies to his forum, but it was still surprising that Mr. Nugents "celebrity" status didn't carry a whole hell of a lot of weight.
Mr. Zumbo rang that bell and as we all know, it can't be unrung.
Yeah, the Motor City Madman has relocated to Texas, I understand. Michigan's loss is Texas' gain.
Zumbo's hunting guide tried to instruct him at the outset. Didn't do much good, did it?
Certainly, we try to educate first... but when they refuse to learn, sterner measures are in order. Do you really think that Jim would be sounding the slightest bit contrite if we hadn't jumped on him with both feet?
I figured that was what you meant. Ted has always been very cool. No one rips a fuzzy headed lib like he does. But the 2nd A. just isn't light reading for his fans. It ain't no party it ain't no fooling around. I'm very heartened by the response to Jim Zumbo's folly. Likewise Ted's flickering campfire. Their fans will forgive if they get their heads straight. In Ted's case I expect he will.
Yes, he's been here a couple of years. His place is in China Spring across the highway from W's ranch. He is active in area schools. He looks much younger than 58. Must be all that clean living.
I only heard from the leftists after the concert, if they complained during, the crowd drowned them out. We were way down in front of the stage and everyone around us were really enjoying the show. Alice Cooper also performed that nite. My son, who was 18 at the time, is a big Ted Nugent fan. He's really into strong guitar rock.
Congratulations on your daughter's birth, she sounds like she will keep you busy. Kids are great, enjoy them while you can. They grow up so fast.
I grew up during those times. The draft ended just before I turned 18. I don't have a problem with anyone trying to get out of going to Vietnam. Those times were chaotic and the whole country was a mess. Some of my friends ended up going but none of them volunteered.
Bump to post #6.
Yeah, he could have just left this issue alone...And I lost a lot of respect for Ted and his entourage...
If he'd have just cancelled this near-future hunting trip with Jim Zumbo...I would not have particularly damned him for it...I know he and Zumbo are friends, but Zumbo expressed his (not surprising) opinion about "gun owners who are not necessarily hunters" section of the RKBA community...
I would never, and have never, and will never damn or condemn the gun-owning hunting community, even if I get tossed for saying all of this...But if you guys and gals in that community think any of your "sporting firearms" will be free from any future bans or restrictions of anykind...
hehehe, have I got a deal for you...
I have several firearms on this proposed "hit list" with H.R. 1022 and you can bet your bottom dollar I had no intention of owning or posessing these weapons from day one for any hunting purpose...
I have no reason (morally or philosophically) to comply with a law that infringes on a basic, and founding, "inalienable right" afforded in our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence...
Now, hopefully we can defeat this before it comes to that...
But what Jim Zumbo did, and what Ted's giving a pass on is not helping at all what we are rightfully going to fight against...And I have my doubts about how well the gun owning community (as a whole) will come together to defend this "inalienable right"...
I know Ted Nugent lurks in these websites, and he is more than welcome to rightfully challenge me on my opinion...And I will still think very well of him regardless (it'll be a challenge)...But like I said, I just lost a lot of confidence in his ability to sustain a credible force in helping us maintain the RKBA, for whatever reason, and with whatever means, in his visible station in the NRA...
All I know is, is that I have the same attitude and conviction as Dr. Suzzana Hupp did when she addressed that congressional committee years ago...And that video of her, and that last part of ther statement is exactly what is at stake here...
And I might not be as nice and collected as she was...
There is no way on God's green Earth that I would silly enough to take that bet.
Agreed ! We do not do our cause any good when go after one another with long knives . We in fact become more at odds with one another & as such cannot present a unified front to our common enemy.
Those who in their lust for power & prestige would turn us all into slaves of a govt. that deems in vital that it sees all, hears all, controls all ,from cradle to grave.
I have NO desire to live in a USA version of the East Germany where children & school teachers were informants on one another ,husbands & wives betraying one another to the secret police.
This sort of thing can happen here if we let it . The way to stop it is not to cut each others throat but to agree to disagree in a firm but civil fashion & to EDUCATE those who are ill informed or just plain ignorant ! THE THROAT CUTTING & BACK STABBING MUST STOP !!! WE HAVE ENTIRELY TO MUCH WORK TO DO!!!
