Rudy To Attend CPAC

I reported a piece last month about how Rudy and McCain were skipping some conservative conferences.  One of the events I mentioned that they had not yet RSVP'd to is the Grandaddy Of Them All -- the Conservative Political Action Conference or CPAC.

Turns out Rudy will attend CPAC.  He'll speak to the confab Friday.

Giuliani did more than catch turnstile jumpers, etc. Attempts to trivialize his law and order record are disingenuous. His policies helped cut the NYC murder rate almost in half. His crackdown on street crime saved thousands of lives and helped to revitalize many bad parts of the city.. Repeating big lies will never make them the truth. If you said to a NYC Liberal that Giuliani was one of them, they would laugh in your face and call you crazy. They consider him a Nazi. Another Hitler. All the time he was Mayor of NYC, they regarded him as a right-wing fascist. I'm undecided as to whom to support for the Republican nomination. I don't agree with his positions on abortion and gun control and some other issues, but to call him a Liberal is ridiculous.

I predict you will denigrate CPAC as being insufficiently conservative.

He won't have to. I'll testify to same. CPAC was certainly "insufficiently conservative" the last time I attended.

There is no reason to denigrate the CPAC Convention

Of course there isn't. But that is what your side will do, as I predicted. It has already happened, on this thread:

To: areafiftyone
Evidently, CPAC, isn't..

That was my impression last time I attended.
And why I no longer do.

Yeah. It's pretty much become Hackville. Shoot, they let the ACLU have a booth. I wish I was joking...

See post 358. Rudy did a lot. Maybe too much.

Since he is clearly an extreme liberal on abortion (he accepts NARAL money and speaks to their conventions), since he is an extremist liberal on guns (he sued gun makers) and since he is an extremist liberal on immigration (defying the Federal laws on same while Mayor), how is he NOT able to wear the label LIBERAL?

>>>>>Attempts to trivialize his law and order record are disingenuous.

Don't blame me. That is what many Rudybots are posting on FR. The one area where Rudy does deserve SOME credit was his ability to reduce crime rates. Granted. However, crime rates were on the decline nationally at the same time. Crime rates also started coming down in the second year of the Dinkins Administration. They came down under Mayor Bloomberg too. Excellent outcomes. Congrats! That doesn't mean conservatives should run out and vote for Dinkins, Bloomberg or Rudy to be POTUS.

>>>>>..... but to call him a Liberal is ridiculous.

LOL You're a little behind the curve. Rudy is not only a big government Republican, he also happens to support more gun control, abortion on demand, amnesty, gay rights and recently even came out in support of the theory that humans are a significant cause of global warming. Just like his good "progressive" friend and fellow environmental wacko kook, A. Schwarzy!

Give me a break. Rudy was born a liberal, he's lived like a liberal and he'll die a liberal.

Opening Remarks to the N.A.R.A.L. "Champions of Choice" Lunch

The Yale Club, Thursday, April 5th, 2001

Thank you very much for inviting me to say a few words of welcome. This event shows that people of different political parties and different political thinking can unite in support of choice. In doing so, we are upholding a distinguished tradition that began in our city starting with the work of Margaret Sanger and the movement for reproductive freedom that began in the early decades of the 20th century.

As a Republican who supports a woman's right to choose, it is particularly an honor to be here. And I would like to explain, just for one moment, why I believe being in favor of choice is consistent with the philosophy of the Republican Party. In fact, it might be more consistent with the philosophy of the Republican Party. Because the Republican Party stands for the idea that you have to restore more freedom of choice...

These are a few quotes from Sanger:

"The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it." Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race (Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)

Margaret Sanger (1883-1966) On blacks, immigrants and indigents: "...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people

On sterilization & racial purification: Sanger believed that, for the purpose of racial "purification," couples should be rewarded who chose sterilization. Birth Control in America, The Career of Margaret Sanger, by David Kennedy, p. 117, quoting a 1923 Sanger speech.

On the purpose of birth control: The purpose in promoting birth control was "to create a race of thoroughbreds," she wrote in the Birth Control Review, Nov. 1921 (p. 2)

On the rights of the handicapped and mentally ill, and racial minorities: "More children from the fit, less from the unfit -- that is the chief aim of birth control." Birth Control Review, May 1919, p. 12

On the extermination of blacks: "We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population," she said, "if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, by Linda Gordon

On adultery: A woman's physical satisfaction was more important than any marriage vow, Sanger believed. Birth Control in America, p. 11

On marital sex: "The marriage bed is the most degenerating influence in the social order," Sanger said. (p. 23

I know you are not. I saw the ACLU last time I attended. And the guy manning the booth had led a protest at a Daniel Pipes talk that I attended.

ACLU = scumbags. I do not trust them.

My posts about CPAC had nothing to do wrt Giuliani attending or not. I was commenting on the general state of what passes for "conservatism" at that gathering.

However, I am not surprised that he will be speaking there. Lots of party hacks attend it.

QED.

I have never met in person anyone who is "sufficiently conservative" - I don't think such a person exists - except in urban legend (or perhaps rural legend) LOL

What's your point? That some of us don't drink the Party Kool-Aid and therefore deserve to be smeared?

I made an observation about what I saw and experienced at the last CPAC I attended. The head of the RNC at the time (Racicot?) gave a speech and would not take any questions from a friendly audience. His attitude was clearly one of being inconvenienced that he had to speak to a group of "activists."

You telling me my observation is not correct? Prove me wrong.

Always changing the parameters of the argument. No wonder you're so confused. You made that accusation about me.

>>>>>I predict you will denigrate CPAC as being insufficiently conservative.

I responded and basically called your posts, bunkum.

Frankly, IIRC, last years CPAC meeting did have a great deal of political correctness hanging over the daily floor events. Someone mentioned that the ACLU was there adn the Log Cabin Republicans too. I won't make excuses for their choices, but I still respect David Keene and the efforts of the ACU in the name of conservatism.

I think not. You make things up as you go along and expect us all to accept whatever you post at face value. Sorry, doesn't work that way. You made that comment about me, no one else, and I did debunk it, in no uncertain terms. Got anymore falsehoods you'd like me to debunk?
