Oh I would take Mitt over McCain any day. I just don't see either of them carrying the nomination. Mitt has a better information and money machine, but it's going to take a lot of persuasion to win us over.

And if Rudy can overcome his personal baggage (the worst of his personal life is having a reputation of being a loud mouthed jerk at work), he would be hard for either one of them to beat. All three of them have taken unconventional positions relative to what social conservatives see as important.

The question is whether voters can say, well at least (fill in the blank of whichever candidate) is honest about it. Or say, nope, that's not for me.

I will say that if Rudy didn't have the jerk factor as a part of his work life, it would be easier to support him. But being a jackass means that there's going to be a lot of unanticipated backlash when he wants to achieve something. Just because someone is hard nosed about something, doesn't mean he can achieve it by pushing hard (and unwisely).

Because by doing so, he makes himself less persuasive and thus a lesser executive.
