Utterly surreal. 6 years after 09-11 we have a candidate for President who named Osama Hussein.

White guilt, while pervasive, needed a little nudge and a Black candidate named, Barak Hussein Obama in the aftermath of 911 and our war in Iraq has made WHITE GUILT formidable!!

Wow! I Really got to stick around to keep up with the comments on the thread, but Ali, you make it durn near impossible!

I've been out most of the day. It was a beautiful day in Alabama today, blue sky and in the low 70s. I let my catechism class leave early so they could play a little football (these are 7-12 graders). One of the boys whacked his head on a big lamp post and got a 3 inch split. Bled like the dickens. We had to take him to the hospital for stitches. And after this he wanted to go back for confirmation class! What a trooper!

Then my wife and kids took me into town for my birthday dinner (Red Lobster), and after this I was so dang tired I took a good long nap. I love Sundays. It starts with posting this thread, a good morning of church, my catechism class, a good diner, and then naps. Did I mention the Sunday thread? That throughout the day, of course!!!

Didn't start reading the thread here until 5:00PM!

Just check in .. I just don't have the stomach for the anti-war military who're violating their oath of office, I believe .. if I'm not wrong.

The story about Marines and other soldiers that are still in service...that are saying we shouldn't stay in Iraq.

"Just because we joined the military, doesn't mean we volunteered to go into an immoral war"....

The Persian Gulf is larger than the state of Florida. Even the Strait of Hormuz is 35 miles wide.

Agreed, but 35 miles in the Straight is not really that much sea room for a carrier battle group and the maximum depth is 90 meters (around 180 feet) for the whole gulf.  Not conducive for our blue water navy, to say the least.  I believe that's the big reason for the push by Rumsfeld for the Littoral combat ships.

I have direct information from friends with service experience that our submarine people really hate operating there.  In fact, I've had an old hand "bubble head" make the comment that it was worse than working in close to the old Soviet Union (even within their territory) because they were afraid of being crunched by one of the super tankers in the area.

Not a good place for us to operate with our current assets.  Those issue weigh heavily on our planners.

Oh..okay, this is the Ann Coulter thing here.

They are saying that since they have served their country...that WE don't have any right to question THEIR actions in going public with this...WHILE WE ARE AT WAR...going against the CIC!

They are saying they aren't funded by any group...

I am not sure that is true...but, I guess I may be the only one watching anyway...LOL

The Iranian economic problems, along with all that 12th Imam nonsense have combined to force Iranian leadership to reign in that nut whose name I cant spell after two beers. Sorry.

Agreed.  However, he is still in a position to push a button.  In fact, he's in a position to push many buttons that would be catastrophic for all humanity.

Are you basing your analysis on either his sanity or the impossibility of his being able to initiate an insane act?

That, I think, is where we differ.

His finger is not on the button, because he has no button to push. Iran does not have any nukes to speak of. They have conventional weapons that would only serve to piss us off.

If Iran gets a nuke, they will use it on Israel within minutes of final testing. And then, Iran will cease to exist.

AFAIC...you didn't miss anything important.

After watching the special about Marines on PBS this last week...and listening to Debbie Arngel (sp) and the other mothers of our troops...

I am just very disappointed in what I heard tonight.

I posted a few quotes from some of the people interviewed that stuck out.
