Ping to post #480
White guilt, while pervasive, needed a little nudge and a Black candidate named, Barak Hussein Obama in the aftermath of 911 and our war in Iraq has made WHITE GUILT formidable!!
Who's on? Another slam job on Bushies/WOT/Cheney?
I know...but this is that story about Marines and soldiers that are still IN SERVICE saying that they don't want to fight in Iraq...
Have to miss it. What's on?
See the above post.
Just check in .. I just don't have the stomach for the anti-war military who're violating their oath of office, I believe .. if I'm not wrong.
The story about Marines and other soldiers that are still in service...that are saying we shouldn't stay in Iraq.
"Just because we joined the military, doesn't mean we volunteered to go into an immoral war"....
Agreed, but 35 miles in the Straight is not really that much sea room for a carrier battle group and the maximum depth is 90 meters (around 180 feet) for the whole gulf. Not conducive for our blue water navy, to say the least. I believe that's the big reason for the push by Rumsfeld for the Littoral combat ships.
I have direct information from friends with service experience that our submarine people really hate operating there. In fact, I've had an old hand "bubble head" make the comment that it was worse than working in close to the old Soviet Union (even within their territory) because they were afraid of being crunched by one of the super tankers in the area.
Not a good place for us to operate with our current assets. Those issue weigh heavily on our planners.
Oh..okay, this is the Ann Coulter thing here.
They are saying that since they have served their country...that WE don't have any right to question THEIR actions in going public with this...WHILE WE ARE AT WAR...going against the CIC!
They are saying they aren't funded by any group...
I am not sure that is true...but, I guess I may be the only one watching anyway...LOL
Agreed. However, he is still in a position to push a button. In fact, he's in a position to push many buttons that would be catastrophic for all humanity.
Are you basing your analysis on either his sanity or the impossibility of his being able to initiate an insane act?
That, I think, is where we differ.
"I volunteered to make a differnce, not to throw my life away".
Yes. Missed most of it, though.
"The only people that are concerned about the war in Iraq, and the soldiers that serve there, are people with family members there".
If Iran gets a nuke, they will use it on Israel within minutes of final testing. And then, Iran will cease to exist.
We don't get it here in the west until 7 PT. I really don't know if I want to watch it or not, It'll get me worked up.
AFAIC...you didn't miss anything important.
After watching the special about Marines on PBS this last week...and listening to Debbie Arngel (sp) and the other mothers of our troops...
I am just very disappointed in what I heard tonight.
I posted a few quotes from some of the people interviewed that stuck out.
