They do not want American gun owners to make a distinction between assault weapons and traditional hunting guns such as shotguns and rifles. If they did, a rift could emerge between hunters, who tend to have the most money for political contributions to gun rights causes, and assault-weapon owners, who tend to have lots of passion but less cash. Huh?????

Huh????? I guess they think there's a big enough crowd of blueblood Republicrat hunters and only a few 'assault weapons' owners (e.g. semiautomatic owners) and ne'er the two shall meet and overlap.

Which one am I since I own both?

Yeah. I thought that comment that assault weapon owners aren't as wealthy as hunters was pretty stupid. I'd love to get a Bushmaster for the price of a 700ADL.

Huh????? The "reporter's" opinion. Nothing more.

There are hunters, there are assault weapons owners and then there are cowboy action shooters. The last time I looked the SASS badges were up in the 60,000. These are folks with play money to burn and a close eye on the Second Amendment. As far as hunting guns costing a lot of money price a first generation Colt single action or an old Winchester lever action rifle. Cowboy action shooters have the passion and the money to burn.

This statement is the "journalist's" effort to represent the gun culture to the masses. I use the term "journalist" advisedly.

At what it costs for a good AR, that's a bit much.
