WOW!!! This is looking a lot like a lib-site. What’s his name is an idiot, you’re a jerk, and who the hell are you to be thinking anything?

In my humble opinion, there have been a bunch of idiots, jerks, and people not thinking – writing a bunch of crap here.

So who among you actually hunts prairie dogs? Do you machinegun them? They are big and fat, they’re slow and easy targets. A 22 or a slingshot would the weapon of choice.

The man apologized. His apology should be considered. And Ted Nugent is an honorable man – more than I can say for a bunch of you.

LOL - you're either a pinhead or you don't know much about your freedoms. In either case, you're a hoot.

Awfully elitist attitude to assume to tell us idiots what is the proper kind of firearm for prairie dogs. You sound just like Zumbo.

The .223 is a type of .22 caliber. It is not a high power caliber. They are NOT machine guns. Have you ever shot at something that small a hundred or more yards away? Apparently NOT. Would you FEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLL better if I used my ..............................22 magnum semi auto or bolt action rifle. PLUS YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT. WE are speaking about the 2nd AMendment and it IS NOT about HUNTING>

Your ignorance of hunting is beyond words.

Trying to zumbo yourself?

Plenty of people shoot prairie dogs at long distances with their rifles. A .22lr or slingshot are not long distance weapons. Accurized AR's are great for "varmint" hunting and are widely used. For about $1,000 (not counting glass) you (well, not YOU) can get a sub MOA rifle that can accept a 20 round mag (because 30's can cause trouble when prone).

Why give people crap when they've selected what many think is the best rifle for the job?

"They are big and fat, they’re slow and easy targets"

Dale are you speaking of your braincells?

Obviously you don't know what a prairie dog is since you referred to them as ground hogs in your post 170. Take it from a Kansan, you won't get many with a slingshot.
Also I don't believe hunting is the right word to use with prairie dogs. It is more of an extermination, just shooting them and leaving them where they fall. I've never seen anybody collect them for food or fur. I believe the term hunting implies that you want the end item. Just like how poisoning a pond is not considered fishing. Poisoning, trapping, or shooting prairie dogs is outside of hunting. I believe Kansas considers them to be a varmint not a game animal. Yes varmint is a legal class of animal not just a slur against opossums and skunks. But the rules may be different in places where they eat those sort of critters.

They are not all that big, or fat, and while they are fairly slow across open ground they are quick to tuck back inside their holes. The .22 LR doesn't have the effective range or hitting power to be the preferred weapon. The .223 solves that problem. In most cases the only difference between an ar-15 and the .223 rifles is color. Perhaps its the black color of the ar-15 that offends the closet racists.

Using an ar-15 with hi capacity magazines is not the best weapon for hunting. Shooting prairie dogs isn't really hunting though. Its more of a infestation control issue.

The man made a mistake as we all do. Being a high profile person his mistake gets lots of attention. Rather than ban him for the rest of eternity it would be more beneficial for our cause to educate him. That would address the ar-15 issue.

Calling people jerks and idiots for being offended at being called a terrorist shows you don't understand what you are talking about.

Ever actually seen one? Outside of the zoo?

Didn't think so.

Scoped, high capacity semiauto rifles are perfectly adapted to keeping the prairie dog menace in check.

Machine guns are not as effective, prairie dogs invented defilade.
