Less than half of Americans -- 47% -- are satisfied with their jobs, according to a 2006 survey of 5,000 households released Friday by the Conference Board.
The dissatisfaction is growing. Last year marked the first time a majority of respondents have said they're unhappy at work, according to the occasional survey from the private research organization.
Twenty years ago, about 61% of workers were happy with their jobs. In 2005, 52% were satisfied.
...The happiest workers are those over 55, those who make more than $50,000 a year, those who put in more than 50 hours a week on the job, and those who live in the Mountain states.
....The least happy workers those are under 25, those making less than $15,000 year and those living in the Middle Atlantic states

First thought... Duh!!!
LOL
Well Stated!
I agree.
When you grow up and can defend yourself without insulting my mother give me a ping. Until then I will equate you with the idea of a cartoon which you seem to identify.
Seriously the guy you are argueing with made a great point. Here in the real world, things do suck sometimes. As I liked to tell my men in the Army when they were sniveling, "Suck it up, Buttercup!" I hated much about the Army, and loved much as well. I say the same thing to myself a lot of times. I am not calling you a buttercup by any means.
"This is not a bad thing in my view. So people whjo want to be happier will tend towards self-employment. And how would that be a bad thing for people or our country as a whole?
What will happen is simple.
Large stupid corporations will start to fail and shrink without good employees.
The businesses started by these individuals will grow and flourish, and replace the failing businesses.
That's sorely missing in this piece of socialist bullsh*t.
So what else is new??
It wasn't so much his message as it was his arrogance. Jeez, some people think that they can toss insults and not be called on it.
As Drew Carey once said..."Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and we meet at the bar!" :-)
Regards, Ivan
I liked what I did just not who I did it for. So I now have found my true calling in life...retirement.
Yet, there still is hope for financial freedom.
" under 25, those making less than $15,000 year'
AKA minimum wage, unskilled. Of course they're unhappy. That expensive degree in Ethnic History didn't even teach them to type.
"Take This Means of Supporting My Family and Shove It!"
53%-er ping!
Exactly. And I'm not seeing anything bad about that. Big business isn't any more your friend than big government is.
ditto
I love my current job. I work for myself.
I couldn't take another stupid performance review where you write nonsense about your job and your "objectives" and you're required to offer Maoist-style self-criticisms. I have bosses having the power to make your heart beat fast just by saying "Can I see you in my office?" I am so utterly happy with being away from all that.
