Israel is negotiating with the United States for permission to fly over Iraq as part of a plan to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, The Daily Telegraph can reveal. To conduct surgical air strikes against Iran's nuclear programme, Israeli war planes would need to fly across Iraq. But to do so the Israeli military authorities in Tel Aviv need permission from the Pentagon.
A senior Israeli defence official said negotiations were now underway between the two countries for the US-led coalition in Iraq to provide an "air corridor" in the event of the Israeli government deciding on unilateral military action to prevent Teheran developing nuclear weapons.

They've got an "all clear" from me and also a "hurry up"!
Yep. Those that comment cavalierly about these matters are either young, don't know history or are stupid. An attack on Iran of the significance required to destroy their nuclear capabilities buried deep underground will trigger a chain of events likely to produce a worldwide depression.
Bump
With or without an ok the job will get done.
"I Don't Think So,Tim"...;0)
First of all, I don't think Israel needs "permission" from the US. We understand their fears of Iran, as we share them too. The one big difference is that Iran can't reach US shores......yet! They could smuggle nukes into the US at some point in the future. They do need our help if they are going to carry out an air strike on Iran, which is probably where we're at with them; however, I have a problem believing that Israel would leak their intentions to the media. I KNOW we have traitors in our government who leak classified information all the time, but I think most Israelis know the danger of a nuclear Iran and as such, wouldn't leak this information even if it were true. I may be wrong, but it makes me feel better to have that Faith in them. :o)
The UK Telegraph is not aware of any plan. It's a preemptive strike by the media to kill any public support and kill any government planning that may be taking place.
They used 14 fighters (8 Sufas and 6 Ra'ams) against Osirak. How many sites would they need to hit in Iran? Would each site need that kind of squadron?
It could be - or it could be purposely leaked by Israel as a threat to Iran - i.e - if you don't stop, we can now strike you at any time we choose. Stop or else.
Rowan Scarborough was on Lawrence Kudlow's program this morning and said there is nothing to this report. He said the Israelis would not ask our "permission", that is not how they do things. They would contact us the minute of lift-off to let us know they were striking.
Sounds good to me.
I'll give them permission to fly over Iraq but only if carrying megaton-class nuclear weapons.
In Iran, President Bob's male enhancement pills just got dumped from his system.
Roll'em!
F the F-ing F-ers
Las September 22nd, Israel ordered 500 bunker Buster bombs from the U.S. The belief at that time was that those bombs were for use against Iran.
There was an article in the telegraph,uk.co at : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/09/22/wnuke22.xml&sSheet=/portal/2004/09/22/ixportaltop.html
In an atricle published April 27,2005 at: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0427-05.htm
The Bush Admin proposed selling Israel 100 5000 lb Bunker Buster Bombs. These aer different than the 500 mentioned above.
Saudi Arabia is VERY worried about Iran and they may be willing to privately agree and deny any knowledge. They may even file a formal grievience after the fact without any plans fo following through.
