Your tagline is all I need to know.

When people acknowledge that they want to lose...they will vote for non-winners.

It's too bad for you that Giuliani provides closer to ten percent than "seventy five or eighty percent." You might have had a point worth making.

You'll take that one quote to your grave with you as your one and only chance to rationalize abandoning the reach toward "that shining city on a hill" and not make the spirit of that great man proud whatsoever!!! The shame of it all!!!

The difference is, he meant this after he'd at least tried with all his might to move the ball down the field toward the goal of consumate conservatism. You want to use this quote to beat all of us over the head before the danged coin is even flipped to see who's going to kick and who's going to receive!!!

And by golly, they better talk nice and civil to you about it, too, right?

'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'
***When the pitcher starts aiming at your head, you start looking at things a little bit differently. At that point, your analogy falls short. For those millions of dead babies, they're getting hit in the head by the pitcher. Their batting average is zero. Once you average that into your team batting average, you'll see why the equation looks different from that perspective.

Rudy and the others are not offering 75 or 80% of what I'm asking for. Not even close. This is not about idealistic perfectionism, it's about having someone who is even on our side. And for electoral pragmatism, I think a liberal Republican is a disaster. He is likely to lose.

"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you're asking for, I say you take and fight for the rest later."

That's a great quote and and awsome strategy. Sadly, with Rudy, we're getting 25% of what we're asking for at best--and we won't have the option of fighting for the rest later because a Giuliani victory effectively means that conservatives have no party at all.

Reagan had another quote about a party he belonged to that abandoned his principles. It went like this: "I didn't leave the Democrat party, the Democrat party left me."
