The difference is, he meant this after he'd at least tried with all his might to move the ball down the field toward the goal of consumate conservatism. That's a great quote and and awsome strategy. Sadly, with Rudy, we're getting 25% of what we're asking for at best--and we won't have the option of fighting for the rest later because a Giuliani victory effectively means that conservatives have no party at all.

Reagan had another quote about a party he belonged to that abandoned his principles. It went like this: "I didn't leave the Democrat party, the Democrat party left me."
