Just breaking on CNN
Welcome to Free Republic. Been here a hair over one month. If Fox is tabloid, where do you get your news?
That's a pretty big jump in technology for them. Previously they relied on rolling bombs down a hill or tying them to the back of a donkey.
Owl_EagleIf what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.
When your news outlet starts running bad comedy shows, it's time to get a new news outlet.
"If Fox is tabloid, where do you get your news?
Radio and Internet, eg, FR. :)
Very true.
Radio? Local or BBC/Public? Where do the locals get THEIR news? A.P.? UPI? Or elsewhere?
Internet? Oh yeah....I believe EVERYTHING I read on the 'net! Where do the articles on FR originate? Or are you reading the interpretations of posters to gather what you will accept as "truth?" I'm not trying to be harsh here, nor am I flaming you. I'm speaking to you as I would speak to one of my students sitting in one of my American Government classes. Also as I would speak to their parents.
On Radio am still listening to Rush and occasionally to Sean.
Used to be a BIG fan of the King of Talkradio - Bob Grant on WABC and WOR. I miss him very much as he was the one who made me "see the light." He was, and still is, my mentor when it comes to ideology. Faithful listener from the mid 80's until his retirement a few years ago.
Rush is great entertainment but he is nowhere close to being NEWS. And he'd tell you that as well. Sean is very good with both the news and as a conservative commentator...but he's FOX so you have to rule him out, right? Every individual is going to put a spin on everything. That's human nature.
The question remains: Is that "spin" a policy fomented by the network itself and codified by lockstep reporting both at the anchor desks and from the field?
Generally speaking, from my observations FOX really is fair & balanced whereas CNN is so biased and slanted as to be sliding off the face of the planet in a LEFTWARD direction!
Oh crap. You're right, of course. I'd completely forgotten about Qatar.
I agree with you. I prefer Fox coverage, too.
However, Fox can't give us RAW facts if they don't have good people on the ground covering what's happening in real time. And therein lies the problem. CNN and the major non-cable networks will have people at the site of what's happening. Most of FOX "coverage" is in studio, rehashing what they're getting off the wires. Notice next time something big breaks.
Right now, we're in a time of nonsense. Anna Nicole, Brittany, car chases, bleh, bleh . . . Sad commentary on our society, but we should probably enjoy it while we can. Reminds me of the summer of 2001, when all the news was about Chandra Levy and that insipid congressman from California.
We all know what knocked them out of the headlines.
But the fact is, they're not as physcially BIG as CNN, so they have to rely on local stringers and affiliates to run with a news story until they can get somebody to put boots on the ground. I can accept that. I'll never watch the likes of CNN. If I must I'll watch MSNBC or simply ABC news.
But..Pakistan is a "valuable ally in the WOT" /s
i agree. great is all tabloid and they give her way too much air time.
i meant Greta is all tabloid. Far from great.
After the next mass murder of thousands of Americans?
