Costumes For Cats A Felony?
Restaurant Giving Out Cat Costumes
POSTED: 11:23 pm EST February 21, 2007
TAMPA, Fla. -- Letting the cat out of the bag isn't the problem. It's putting the cat in the bag that's causing controversy.
The Checkers Drive-in chain is running a "Rapcat" promotion. The Tampa-based, fast-food company has a special take-out bag with cutaways for a cat's legs and tail.
Checkers is encouraging customers to dress up their cats with the bag, which is designed to look like a basketball jersey. But officials of Hillsborough County Animal Services warn that putting an unwilling cat into a "Rapcat" bag could be considered felony animal cruelty.
Officials of Checkers said they meant no harm, adding that since the chain began airing Rapcat commercials last fall, customers have been clamoring for Rapcat merchandise.

I really wonder about the sanity of people who dress up their pets. At Christmastime the pups and kits outfitted with phony antlers look abject--they're being humiliated for the sake of a "beggin strip."
Jeez, people, the world is weird enough without forcing your pets to cross-dress, or cross-gender, or cross arms.
Let them be what they are--but I have to admit, it's really funny to see some of these pictures.

Digging up radishes.... oh my, you must like in a warm climate... we have 2 feet of snow cover right now.Yep. Central Texas. We had 80 or 81 yesterday and it should be the same today. I'm leaving early today to get some gardening done, since I had to work on other projects the past two weekends.

I think it would be difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law that the cat was unwilling. Typically, testimony from cats is rather ambiguous.Maybe not. When the defense attorney puts the cat on the witness stand, with a paper bag on the seat next to it, and the cat promptly crawls into the bag (as cats usually do with paper bags), the jury is likely to understand the cat's testimony quite clearly. If I was the defense attorney, I'd hide a little catnip in the bag just to be on the safe side.

Lucky you..80 degrees, OH WOW. We reached a very tropical 36 yesterday and woke up to more snow this morning. Please send some of the warm air up this way.

That’s because cats have all the dignity that dogs unfortunately lack.

I did a search on one of my favorite keywords (donutwatch), and this thread showed up at the very top of the list. I confess that I didn’t look at the dates. The last post before mine was from 2007.
So, why did it show up at the top of the list?
Could this be the dreaded Y2.011K bug?
I will watch and observe. You can go back to sleep now.

The last post before mine was from 2007.I was just curious. I find myself on some threads from way back, too, as a result of some kind of search. FR has a pretty vast and comprehensive archive, doesn't it?
