Almost every town used to have bordinghouses, many just flop houses where bums would stay off the streets. However at the beginning of the bum problem, excuse me, homeless, the first thing the do-gooders and the politicians did was zone out the bordinghouses. No rooming houses, no bums.( This is considered sophisticated thinking amongst politicians ) Then of course the bums took to the streets, went down and scared off the costumers from the merchants, and now we have a taxpayer riped off our hide, multi billion dollar government run bum program. Excuse me homeless.

So, you see, everything is sort of connected. Rooming houses were marginal business, naturally. I am sure that other real estate interests had their eye on what would be very cheap real estate and influenced the creation of the anti-boarding houses. This caused the under, non capitalized owners to sell, since they had no money from their customer base to do anything else. So, as always when a local or any size government does something, some where in behind the councilors, congressmen, some one is making boatloads of cash. Greed and stupidity makes America, just like with illegals. The Democrats get the votes and bodies for their union employees, employed in the welfare/school/security industries, and Republicans get laborers, labor suppression and domestic help

Boardinghouses.

Border.

See the difference?

The two are not interchangeable.
