I am getting really sick of the Mexican Invasion costing so many jobs in the Southwest Virginia- East Tennessee area. My husband is a brickmason. He is the 5th generation mason in his family- our son is the 6th. Up until just a couple of years ago brickmasons had contractors ringing their phones off of the wall wanting them to do work for them. My husband had to turn down dozens of callers because he couldn't do it all. Things have sure changed . Now, a lot of contractors in this area have gotten dollar signs in their eyes and all that they can see are cheap Mexican workers. My husband has actually had a contractor (real builders that know how to actually build a house are really scarce around here anymore) pull Mexicans on the job that he was working on because he was in such a hurry to get it finished that he couldn't wait the 2 weeks that it would have taken to do the whole job. They will pull in a huge crew and wipe the job out real quick. They waste a lot of brick though (they get paid by the 1000 brick). My husband is a very good, fast mason. His speed and quality is not the issue here. Most of these workers cannot even speak English. It is really aggravating to have lived in a place your entire life and have your livlihood seriously threatened by people that are not supposed to be here in the first place. How do we get rid of this problem? Also, on another related note: It was announced today that there are hundreds of jobs being cut in ANOTHER local factory, Bristol Compressors. I was told several months ago that a construction site in Mexico was marked with a sign that read:" Future site of Bristol Compressors" Is this a coincidence or is there another company by the name of Bristol Compressors?

Virginia is not the only state where third world illegal aliens are taking the jobs of Americans.
Here in my back of the neighborhood I see them huddled together under bridges, overpasses and main thoroughfares waiting to be picked up treasonous elitists to do the work that Americans should be doing.
May every evil befall these treasonous employers!
Uncle Sam's Hammer was made in the U.S. but forged in Mexico. Bush is allowing it and now it is simply a race to the bottom as U.S. workers have to compete with sub-standard labor just to stay alive.Just as our economy is falling apart so will all of our building simply because people want to save a few bucks and hire illegal aliens. Soon so will the American Dream of everyone who is just now entering the work force and seeing how hard it is to compete. This is our country but Bush is giving it away... Well Mr. Bush, when Juan and Jose finish your construction and return to Mexico with all of the money AND the Labor warranty (if any), dont raise my taxes to compensate. And when your building falls apart dont call me to repair it. I had to sell my hammer to put food on my familys table.
Outstanding! BTTT!
I found one here in Gainesville. A kid who grew up here,
bought a used commercial mower and employs US citizens.
He cut and trimmed 6 acres of lawn in 3 hours for $175.
I have nothing against the illegals here (mostly they
are the ranch help and work hard, and two of them are
friends of mine) but I can’t in good conscience employ
them myself.
>>>You DON’T have the right to a job!
You DON’T have the right to transfer costs to taxpayers for providing education, justice and medical services to illegal aliens.
What other parts of U.S. law do you believe should be ignored?
>>>I’m a pure Capitalist!
Then you should respect property rights.
Illegal aliens steal welfare benefits. They clog up our school and require massive capital expenditures. They clog up our hospitals, particularly the emergency rooms, for free (or stolen) medical care (they walk out without paying). They now make up a large percentage of our criminals. They receive welfare payments and other social support services.
The rights of a US citizen have economic value. They take that economic value against our domestic laws. They are illegal. They are criminals. Most companies that hire illegals know that their Social Security numbers are not valid (the IRS tells them).
Upate:
Brickmasons and other tradesmen can hardly buy a job around here now. There is no shortage of Hispanics on jobsites though. Something has to be done about this.
Bristol Compressors completely closed down a couple of months ago, putting hundreds of people out of work. I do not know of the status of the one in Mexico though.
