Sick of Mexicans Taking our Jobs
Nelliemae

Posted on 02/21/2007 5:53:58 PM PST by NellieMae

I am getting really sick of the Mexican Invasion costing so many jobs in the Southwest Virginia- East Tennessee area. My husband is a brickmason. He is the 5th generation mason in his family- our son is the 6th. Up until just a couple of years ago brickmasons had contractors ringing their phones off of the wall wanting them to do work for them. My husband had to turn down dozens of callers because he couldn't do it all. Things have sure changed . Now, a lot of contractors in this area have gotten dollar signs in their eyes and all that they can see are cheap Mexican workers. My husband has actually had a contractor (real builders that know how to actually build a house are really scarce around here anymore) pull Mexicans on the job that he was working on because he was in such a hurry to get it finished that he couldn't wait the 2 weeks that it would have taken to do the whole job. They will pull in a huge crew and wipe the job out real quick. They waste a lot of brick though (they get paid by the 1000 brick). My husband is a very good, fast mason. His speed and quality is not the issue here. Most of these workers cannot even speak English. It is really aggravating to have lived in a place your entire life and have your livlihood seriously threatened by people that are not supposed to be here in the first place. How do we get rid of this problem? Also, on another related note: It was announced today that there are hundreds of jobs being cut in ANOTHER local factory, Bristol Compressors. I was told several months ago that a construction site in Mexico was marked with a sign that read:" Future site of Bristol Compressors" Is this a coincidence or is there another company by the name of Bristol Compressors?

This illegal immigration thing is sort of like this,, you meet a stranger on the street that is lost, cold and hungry. You invite them in,, give them a meal, some money, a room. Well,, in a few days someone else shows up at the door in the same condition. So,, because you are a kind, generous sort of person as well as also having a large house and money besides,, you invite them in and help them in the same way. As time goes by,, word spreads you are a generous and rich man. More starving souls show up at your door. At first, you think this is wonderful, and it is. You are helping out the needy. But, as time goes on,, the number grows to the point where all your rooms are full, but they keep coming. You realize the need to set some guidelines, so you post a sign at the door for hours of operation. But, the sign gets torn down and they just start walking in. So many come they are not even waiting in line at the front door. Now they are also coming in the back door,, and then the windows get broken and they crawl through there. Some are even breaking through the walls. You try to set some rules in a panic,, but it is too late. They laugh and shake their fist in your face and make demands of you! Strangers are now stealing from your closets and going through your drawers! They take your ID, money and are driving your car! A crowd grabs you and throws you out onto the street. In desperation, you pull out your cell and call the police, only to have the police accuse you of trespassing! "These strangers", the police say,, "are not strangers at all, but are undocumented legal residents of the place of their dwelling and they have the residency to prove it!" So, in the end,, with no place to go and no one to listen,, you sit alone,, lost, cold and hungry out on the sidewalk!

Thank you very much for the link. Thank you also to all the real America lovers who have supported me in this. To all of the others who don't seem to get it, remember: "but by the grace of God go I". I've got to go to bed. At least I still have a job to go to in the morning.

the problem is: how are you going to feel when your new trade is taken over or outsourced, and you go out and learn ANOTHER new trade and then THAT is outsourced and so on and so on....how many times are you willing to start from scratch in your life before you lose it?

"The second fact: illegals are a whole lot cheaper to employ than Americans are."

Great....now finish that sentence.

....because employers who hire illegals are
1. breaking the law
2. More than likely NOT paying minimum wage and deducting taxes fica / SS etc
3. thus are able to underbid legal businesses.

Totally flawed logic. I'll stick around to see if you have a shred of common sense here......... unlike the other beandip for brains character...

If you base a business model on illegality.....well you are an anarchist and then anything goes. I'll bet if I got my employees hooked on heroin I could buy them a McShits Happy Meal once a day and they'd work for me like crack whores.

Is that "capitalism?

No.

His economic argument is not "spot on" simply because it is not based on rule of law. It's really that simple.

As many times as it takes!

I have no right to a JOB!

I have the right to compete. That is IT! And so i do... and I love every minute!

Look. Civil war is coming in the near future unless we stop ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION NOW! Everything is moving faster than the average public dolt realizes. We have a growing fifth column that has no sworn loyalty to the United States. The overpopulation of the US is going to lead to internal fighting and the softy whitebreads will lay down and beg for peace.

Guys...

As fun as this little conversation has been...

The markets open early and it's past my bed time.

Good day!

Unbridled capitalism is no different than any other tyranny.

That is the most truthful statement I've ever seen posted here. It is sad that most people do not grasp the meaning.

I'm always amazed when an anarchist pops in here on FR.

Trying to have any sensible debate with any of those types is tiring...and gets boring pretty fast.

Anarchists are devoid of all logic and they will not acknowledge that in a HEALTHY economic climate we need a base line of at least a few laws and regs that everyone should abide by...so that all can compete on an even playing field.

When you have a group that profits by the type of "selective law enforcement" that this current administration seems to cultivate....well, it is like a cancer...and will rot the economy from the inside out with the middle class taxpayer and legitimate small business owner bearing the brunt of the disease.

Become a foreman if you can't hack the tough stuff. Learn to be social.

another idiot. here's a clue... not everyone can be management. i guess those that don't make it into management should just suck it up and 're-train'.

amazing how many people speak out on topics that they have zero experience.
