... a veteran meteorologist and hurricane expert says Cullen's views on global warming are "crazy" and "misinformed."
"I wonder how she knows so much more than the rest of us," says Dr. William Gray, a professor emeritus in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University...
Last week a panel of veteran Cleveland TV meteorologists said global warming should not be considered a scientific fact. One of the panelists estimated that 95 percent of meteorologists nationwide shared his skepticism over global warming...

I believe that there is likely an increase in global temperatures.
But my question has always been: How much of that can be pinned on human actions?
Many climatologists (who don't have a political axe to grind) believe that human actions (ex: pollution) are at best minimal.

She is the reason I no longer look to the Weather Channel for info unless I need a third opinion about the weather. I definitely don't watch them any longer nor do I go to their website. They used to be good for information with very little opinion and I would have them on in the moring while getting ready for work. No longer. Too bad as I really liked some of the weather babes. Liberalism strikes again.

Our local meteorologist came out last week and said he didn't think any warming was man made but cyclical. I was thrilled to hear he didn't buy into the b.s.

"I wonder how she knows so much more than the rest of us," says Dr. William Gray, a professor emeritus in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University ... My thoughts exactly ... watched her doing a report last week, she's definitely bought into the global warning theory ... her display of north America showed blue over Canada and the northern U.S. and red over the Arctic region ... where the hell did she think the frigid weather was coming from ... the balmy north pole?

95% of meteorologists don't agree with global warming? Does that trump the consensus of political global warming activists?

You got it! I tuned in a few days ago, and it was like a CHAT show, where was the weather information I wondered, what a waste! Lots of great internet sights for the weather so no problem!

This used to be my favorite TV channel, but not anymore. Aside from occasionally checking out the "local on the 8's" forecast (to see if I can go golfing!), the only thing I (sometimes) watch is Abrams & Bettes. I don't really listen to what they have to say, I just like to ogle her for a while!

We all heard the doom and gloom of the 2006 hurricane season. Living less than half a mile from the Gulf of Mexico and having been wiped out by Hurricane Katrina, I looked with dread to another year of possible catastrophe.
ATLANTIC BASIN SEASONAL HURRICANE FORECAST FOR 2006
Forecast Parameter and 1950-2000
Climatology (in parentheses {this the average over time})
Issued 6 December 2005 - Forecast for 2006
Named Storms (NS) (9.6) Predicted 17
Named Storm Days (NSD) (49.1) Predicted 85
Hurricanes (H) (5.9) Predicted 9
Hurricane Days (HD) (24.5) Predicted 45
Intense Hurricanes (IH) (2.3) Predicted 5
Intense Hurricane Days (IHD) (5.0) Predicted 13
Net Tropical Cyclone Activity (NTC) (100%) Predicted 195
{Net Tropical Cyclone Activity (NTC) (100%) Predicted 195. ~ In other words the season was initially predicted to be 195% above the average activity for the past 50 years}
---SNIP---
May 2006 outlook
SUMMARY
NOAAs 2006 Atlantic hurricane season outlook indicates an 80% chance of an above-normal hurricane season, a 15% chance of a near-normal season, and only a 5% chance of a below-normal season. This outlook is produced by scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center (CPC), National Hurricane Center (NHC), and Hurricane Research Division (HRD). See NOAAs definitions of above-, near-, and below-normal seasons.

August 2006 outlook
SUMMARY
NOAA continues to predict a high likelihood (75% chance) of an above-normal 2006 Atlantic hurricane season and a 20% chance of a near-normal season, according to a consensus of scientists at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center (CPC), National Hurricane Center (NHC), and Hurricane Research Division (HRD). Therefore, 2006 is forecast to be the tenth above-normal season in the last twelve years. See NOAAs definitions of above-, near-, and below-normal seasons.
---SNIP---
What actually happened:
{A normal season}
The 2006 Atlantic hurricane season was an event in the annual cycle of tropical cyclone formation. This season was unusual in that no hurricanes made landfall in the United States of America.[1] It started on June 1, 2006, and officially ended on November 30, 2006. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Atlantic_hurricane_season
There is a chart in this link which details what occurred verses the predictions.
So, how can these talking heads demand that we peons believe what the 'experts' tell us when there is so much uncertainty among those 'experts' in ONE hurricane season? Duh!
Dr, Gray got it wrong, very wrong. Perhaps that is why he is skeptical. He knows first hand the complexities of long range climate prediction. More power to him!

I've been looking for all the dire hurricane predictions for 2006 issued in mid and late 2005, with little success. The National Weather service, NOAA both have buried their predictions (or removed them from their site).
The MSM (MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Newsweak, etc.) have likewise erased all their reinforcing of the dismal predictions such that they can't be found today.
Thank you for the great summary. Too bad you did not see fit to include the original dates and links.
