"They didn't know who he, no ID and was and he was in Mexico...consequently no case. "
Ahh so thats why they paid him off and gave him an entry card to faciliate his future drug running.
IMHO, if Campeon hadn't tried to butt the guy in the head with his shotgun (why did he pull the shotgun? He had a .40 Beretta, billyclub and mace), the guy would be in custody, Campeon would be a hero and all agents involved given promotions and/or citations.
This is just so stoopid.
"Ahh so thats why they paid him off and gave him an entry card to faciliate his future drug running."
How did they pay him off? Paying for his hospital bills? The guy has a one inch gap in his urethra.
They had to give him the border pass so he could get here for statements, to testify and to a US hospital for treatment. I don't see anything nefarious about that.
"I'm not sure how much you can trust what's in that transcript."
Did you apply the tinfoil to your cranium before making that post?
Agreed. Its all because he ran. He knew he would be beaten after seeing him take a swing at him with the butt of a gun, then knew he would be beaten worse because the cop fell in the mud.
It's not just the running, it was also the high speed chase. Anyone familiar with law enforcement knows there is a price to be paid for putting officers at risk via a high speed chase.
In Texas they call it the "he needed a beatin'" rule. In LA they call it the "Rodney King Surprise".
"How did they pay him off? Paying for his hospital bills? The guy has a one inch gap in his urethra. "
They used our tax dollars for this treatment. Let him get treated in Mexico. His druggie friends were probably upset that they lost a good mule. This guy was bringing drugs into the US. That is a crime and he should be treated as such.
Not that that is okay, but it helps explain his state of mind.
"They used our tax dollars for this treatment. Let him get treated in Mexico."
One, they needed the bullit from his left thigh to conduct ballistics tests and two, they wanted to make sure this guy lived to testify. IMO they treated him well hoping he wouldn't file a multi million dollar lawsuit. Oh well, the best laid plans...

I hadn't followed this one closely, so it's very interesting to see a post-mortem like this. Thanks.
As I'm sure you know, you're likely about to catch a mountain of crap.
"His druggie friends were probably upset that they lost a good mule."
Evidentally not, he is being implicated in another mule run on October of '05. Ain't life funny.
"This guy was bringing drugs into the US. That is a crime and he should be treated as such."
Well, you can arrest all the hyperdermic needles you can but that won't dent heroin use.
Look, the guy was a mule, some poor uneducated slob they hire to run the van so the real pushers don't get caught. He is a VERY low priority to drug enforcement officers. They bad guys never give the mules any information that could lead to their arrest. That's they way they work.
So you arrest this guy and the tax payers end up spending 50k a year for ten years keeping him comfortable in Joliet. The bad guys have him replaced in 2 hours.
Is that a good deal for us?
I'm used to it and have a thick skin. Calling a spade a spade is my life's ambition.
"IMO they treated him well hoping he wouldn't file a multi million dollar lawsuit. Oh well, the best laid plans... "
And I'd say let him come back and file the suit.
I haven't figured it out yet, but for some reason this reminds me of Mark Fermin and his efforts in the O.J. case. Like I said, I haven't figured it out, but my mind is trying to draw parallels.
How does that impact the guilty plea of the two agents. I am asking from total ignorance because I am only familiar with the uproar and not the case itself.
I think you meant convictions.
BTW - It doesn't impact at all. Those are diversions from people who believe all Muslims are terrorists and all cops are clean as the driven snow.
Actually, I'm a Mark F. fan. I think he was an excellent cop who got slimed in the Johnny Cochran machine. He's a Fox analyst now.
BTW - I'm not excusing his earlier comments about AA's. I think he snapped for a period...he seems to be better now.
Yeah, I did...thanks!
