INESCAPABLE media images of sexed-up girls and women posing as adolescents can cause psychological and even physical harm to adolescents and young women, a study has found.
The pressure of what experts call "sexualisation" can lead to depression, eating disorders, and poor academic performance, said the report, released by the American Psychological Association.
"Sexualisation of girls is a broad and increasing problem and is harmful to girls," it said.

We are never called to be friends to our children. We are to be examples, disciplinarians and educators of our children, not friends. Friendship comes later, when we have raised good kids

I totally agree with this. When I was little, I recall feeling threatened by 'Saturday Night Fever' values and hated having them constantly shoved in front of me when I was trying to assert my own values. I recall really detesting that kind of sleaziness.
Gee. I took a study for them to figure out what most Parents needed less than 5 minutes to understand perfectly...
You're right there. My generation hasn't done a very good job of raising kids. We were spoiled, and it shows in our childrearing. I will be curious to see if this upcoming generation will be even worse, or if the pendulum will swing back. God help us.
