For the second straight week, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) holds a fourteen percentage point lead in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Giuliani attracts support from 33% of Likely Primary Voters while Arizona Senator John McCain is supported by 19%. A week ago, it was Giuliani 32% McCain 18%.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R) picked up a few points this week and now is favored by 13%.
Trailing Gingrich is former Massachusetts Mitt Romney (R) at 9%. Senators Sam Brownback (R) and Chuck Hagel (R) each earn 3% support. It is not clear that Gingrich is running. He has said he will not make a decision until at least September.

That almost looks like an anomaly. Strange.
Big bump!
How so?
>>That almost looks like an anomaly. Strange.<<
Yeah, I don't know how to read Newt's numbers - anomaly? or maybe being undeclared, his numbers are really sensitive to how serious he sounds about running?
I know people are concerned about his baggage but if his opponent is Hillary his baggage won't look large.
He's bright and he's a leader. I've been to his town hall meetings and he's really likable in person.
But honestly I don't know if he will decide to run and if he does if it will be early enough to raise enough money.
It's Giuliani Time! Hahaha! ;-)
"Why the hell do they omit HUNTER from these polls???"
The Fox poll I posted in #79 shows Hunter going from zero to 1% to 2%.
That doesnt sound like a lot but but it show McCain drifting down and Romney dropping fast while Guiliani trends upward.
Unless Guiliani self destructs it looks like him versus whomever the conservatives get behind.
Pretty impressive record in NYC, IMO.
Newt's poll numbers for December. It just seemed extreme to have that much variation within 3 months.
He had an affair. I don't think I've heard anything that compares him to Bill Clinton, certainly not a rapist or a predator.
"I'm still befuddled, yet satisfied, that Gingrich is outpolling Romney.."
Simple. THE CONSERVATIVES ARE DESPERATE FOR A REAL CONSERVATIVE TO VOTE FOR.
Gingrich is the closest we have to a real, articulate, legitimate cosnvative. What about someone on the right like Duncan Hunter?
Guliani will not be the nominee. No way no how.
I would rather this isn't true, because we need a conservative, but if this stuff about Newt is true (it is) we can't let a person like that be our leader.
Newt Gingrich SERIAL ADULTERER SEX ADDICT

You should stay off the leftist soft-porn propaganda sites, bud. That's defamatory garbage against Newt, a man who's had more than his share of slanders from leftist detractors.
Guliani has more personal baggage than Newt, for sure, but he's cut more slack because he's a social liberal. McCain is also on marriage #2 an there have been weird allegations not worth repeating on him.
If you want the low-personal-baggage candidate, it is probably Mitt Romney, who's nearly squeaky clean.
The same Gerald Plessner who is a raving moonbat Bush-hater who said:
"Rove and Norquist Ruining America"

... is now an 'expert' to be cited on FR about Gingrich? Pathetic.
OK, sorry about that. I shouldn't have posted this.
Never mind. I searched for the article, but couldn't find it.
I do remember a conservative confirming some of this stuff about Newt which made him sound rather immoral.
Newt has a book "Winning the Future", that captures his ideas. It's good.
I think EVERY candidate should have a book on THEIR IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE.
And judge them on that. This beauty-pageant horse-race type view of the race is a recipe for gettign a pretty, empty-suited fool, who will get beat by Hillary.
No go. TIME FOR REAL IDEAS AND REAL CONSERVATIVE SOLUTIONS.
TIME FOR REAL IDEAS AND REAL CONSERVATIVE SOLUTIONS.
I agree. It is just that I remember what we used to say about Clinton. If a man isn't even faithful to his wife, how can you trust him with the nation? Character is part of leadership.
Since Newt is on marriage #3 and had an affair, I am sure he has personal baggage, etc. But let's not let the leftwing nutjobs define who he is. Besides, you can find that and more on Guliani's divorce, etc.
