It can only be a Strategic Reserve if the oil is capable of being brought to the refineries. A large infrastructure would also need to be built.

I thought that everything that has been proposed has included ice roads and winter operations? I haven't asked, but wonder if it would be possible to tap ANWR using lateral drilling from somewhere like Pt. Thompson.

Wouldn't this just be one small step away from a nationalized oil supply? I don't like the idea because it gives the oil to the Government when it should be in the hands of private American companies.

It also is an area prized by environmentalists nationally.It's only "prized by environmentalists nationally" because there's oil under it. Other than that it's pretty much a wasteland.
