Iwo Jima was one of the prime factors , among several, such as letting the Russians know where they needed to stop, that led to the deployment and use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

We had no choice but to move forward as best we could. The arcane misapplication of traditional warriorship , represented by fascist militarism in Japan, is in many ways similar to modern Islamofascism. Pray that we do not have to use nuclear weapons again, but so far the prognosis is that we will, especially if democrats come to power, and find themselves wanting in conventional military strength. As current events illustrate, that will be more than likely.

My Dad was there (Iwo) and sustained two broken legs on day one. Not his fault but it happened. He survived until 1997. With the honor of his Purple Heart award, he now is resting in Arlington National Cemerty. Sad but very honorable.

The fighting went on for 35 days AFTER the US Marines raised the flag. How would the MSM report that today. What would Dems say just after 10 days, all is lost??? Time to cut & run????
