Pakistan's strategy in North Waziristan has come under scrutiny since it signed a peace deal with militants ...

Isn't there something fundamentally obvious about signing peace deals with militants?

Osama bin Laden has re-established control over a terrorist network along the Pakistan and Afghan border, according to US sources.

Uh huh, sure he has.

Sooner or later Bin Ladens' ass will be grass. Anybody that doesn't think that we are doing everything that we can to find this scumbag isn't living in the real world. Just like 911, we will all turn on the TV one day to hear the news. We (Freepers) will be celebrating while democrats are once again on suicide watch. It's just a matter of time.

If true, there is no way to portray this as anything but a failure of horrific proportions, equivalent to letting Hitler re-establish a Nazi stronghold after WWII. The only reason we provided aid and financial support for Pakistan's tin-pot dictatorship post-9/11 was to gain their support in the war on terror - there's no good reason US troops should not have free rein to scour western Pakistan for bin Laden and Mullah Omar.

It's all about providing Musharraf with political cover in advance of a sustained US strike deep into North Waziristan, IMO.

Is this because Osama is giving interviews to these socialist weenies? The 'evidence' that Osama is in charge of anything anymore is pretty specious. Sure, the media will dispute WMD evidence supported by every intelligence agency on the entire planet but one raghead in Waziristan says Osama is in charge and they run up the flag!

It has also reignited debate about how to confront Pakistan's role as a haven for militants, without undermining the government of General Pervez Musharraf.

How to confront it? Just continue to placate the good muslim general. /sarc off
