Senator John McCain said Monday the war in Iraq has been mismanaged for years.
He said Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (news - bio) will be remembered as one of the worst to ever hold the job.
He said the United States is paying a heavy price for the mismanagement.
He said Rumsfeld never put enough troops on the ground to succeed in Iraq.
Former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating and former Texas Senator Phil Gramm were at his side.
Both endorsed McCain over the weekend.

I'm a long-time Rumsfeld supporter, but have finally come to this same conclusion. He ran the war like a CEO runs a drug company. Bullshit

Just when I thought McCain had hit the bottom of the barrel...He will never get my vote.

Wrong! Brit said, the Sunday after Rummy resigned, that he (Rummy) was a giant of a man. I agree.
We got the job done quickly with a minimum of GI fodder and casualties. But nothing but criticism, for our troops and their leaders from the Democrats, of which McCain is one.
The war in Iraq is over, what's needed now is a strategy to annihilate the militias. We have to do to the Clerics what we did to Suddam. New ball game, new people. Rummy did his stint well.
Thank you Rummy.

When did Powell resign and when did Rumsfeld bring in reinforcements so that there were enough troops to hold a city once it was taken?

Rumsfeld did a good job. It's up the the president to say "no fighting with one hand behind our backs".

As his CO called him in RVN.... "Gregory Greenass" is spouting his lack of knowledge again.

Those who live in glass houses . . . McCain is one of the worst Senators in the history of America. Few have done more to take away basic freedoms (in particular, freedom of speech) than he.

We will go to the 2008 battle with the candidate we have, John McCain, which will be you the same time every American fighting man is issued a large pipe to aim the monkees flying out of his [navel]. We expect this line of crap from John Murtha and Hillary Clinton. Get thee behind them, John McCain.
I find it difficult to believe anyone really wants this man as CIC.

I am listening to Duncan Hunter on a radio talk show right now...and he was asked about McCain's remarks about Rummy....and Hunter said just the opposite.
He said just what I posted that Tommy Franks said..and does NOT agree with John McCain about this at all.
To: trumandogz
Not in the primary it won't.
