Last night we welcomed Congressman Duncan Hunter, (R-CA), to Pundit Review Radio. Rep. Hunter is one of the leading conservative candidates running for President.
Rep. Hunter was incredibly generous with his time, spending more than 30 minutes with us discussing a wide range of topics. Of course, we asked him about the anti-surge, non-binding resolution that was passed this weekend. He had some pointed criticism of his colleagues, and questioned how much they understood about the surge, from a tactical level. According to the Rep. Hunter, it is all about politics, and has little to do with the surge itself.
We also talked about immigration, as Hunter has one of the toughest stances on this issue in Congress. He spoke of the fence that runs along the San Diego border and how effective it has been. We also asked him what should be done about the Border Agents who have been thrown in jail for a dozen years for shooting a drug smuggler. We took some great calls from WRKO listeners who asked what separated Hunter from the leaders in the GOP race, like McCain, Rudy and Romney.
My favorite part of the interview was when Rep. Hunter opened up about his own family, he talked eloquently about his father and how the call to military service was passed to him, and now, on to his son. Speaking of his son, Congressman Hunter told a great story about his sons decision to join the military on 9-11, it is incredibly inspirational.
This guy is solid and deserves strong consideration for your vote for president in the Republican primaries. To learn more about his campaign, click here. We look forward to having him back on Pundit Review Radio as the campaign heats up in the coming weeks.
This interview is also available for download at iTunes and Podcast Alley.

Now that's a good picture.
Awesome photo!
Guess you missed that poll last week showing Hillary creaming Rudy in NEW YORK State, huh newbie.
February 14, 2007 - New York Voters Luv Clinton Over Giuliani For '08, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Both New Yorkers Clear Choice Of Their PartiesThe mutt can't even carry his OWN STATE. So if the GOP nominates Rudy it's political suicide, he wouldn't get 150 Electoral VotesSen. Hillary Clinton leads former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani 50 - 40 percent among New York State voters
Hahaha - you were snookered. Most Americans do not support this - not even legal immigrants.
If you absolve someone of the penalties of a crime it's called -- amnesty !! Jumping the border is against the law. The fact that we don't enforce it is a serious problem.
Who will ensure they learn English when local gov't are busy printing ballots in Spanish ?
Why are they proposing that illegals only have to pay 2 out of 5 years of back taxes - and they don't have to have solid proof of income amount ? Why don't they give legal, law-abiding American citizens the ability to not pay taxes for three out of the past 5 years ?
By being illegal - they are all criminals waiting for a conviction !
And - when will the border be closed so we don't gather another 15, 20, 100 million illegals waiting for the next amnesty ?
:)
Why don't you mosey on over to a thread that Jim Robinson posted about this kind of nonsense and defend that RINO position there?

A winning conservative platform for 2008?

What few people realize is that this is exactly the way GWB beat Ann Richards down here in Texas in his first Governor's race.
***Thanks for that, it was something I hadn't noticed...
Duncan Hunter has a clear and precise plan for how to wage this war, from regaining our vital manufacturing base through renegotiating trade deals which hinder our security while strengthening our enemies, to a three stage method for resolving countries like Iraq and the particulars of how to implement those three stages --and most importantly, the second stage which entails setting up a working military to protect the elected government of Iraq.
Duncan Hunter not only understands the need to secure our southern border, he has actually worked on the fencing problem nd the coordination of law enforcement and physical restraint to invaders!
He knows a liberal when he sees one and is not afraid, or intimidated by political correctness, to tell the truth and name the pernicious liberals in government. Duncan Hunter sees more clearly and has more concrete plans than ANYONE running or sounding like running (read Newt Gingrich, my previous first choice).
America is larger than New York and California.
***SHHHHH -- quiet. We don't want them to know that. ;-)
This is a conservative candidate's thread, p-man/newbie.
Why don't you take your pom-poms and find a RINO thread?
Ahh yes - the voice of inclusion.
"the voice of inclusion"
Rudi-bots can make their arguments for gun-control, abortion and "comprehensive immigration reform" on any number of threads/spams.
What I like best about Hunter is, I'm convinced he'll tell Mexico, "Stop the invasion."
I really don't get the impression that you'll be around long enough to read most of the responses to your posts. You're obviously ignoring the ones that make the most sense. Rudy is doomed. No candidate can win when he splits the base. Instead of trying to get socons to part with their deeply held convictions, it will be easier for us and you to start getting the CINOS to part with their loosely held convictions.
JEB - I've never been offended by sane people!
Thanks for the ping on the Hunter interview. I've just listened and like him... you know my concerns that I think most share. I plan to continue with my fact gathering and decision making.
What does offend me is the thoughtless trash-fest by some on the Freep boards. Most offensive to me is the irrational efforts to try to slam down a candidate (Rudy) by using a bogus comparison to Hillary. What's incredible is the attempt to make Rudy/Hillary look the same in the WOT... this is done by lying about Hillary's current position on the WOT issues.
This bogus compare is also totally slanted to social issues versus all others. By the way, I firmly believe that Hillary/Obama would be far more damaging on social issues than any of the prospective R candidates in the race.
I'm posting below my priorities for our candidate to compare against Hillary/Obama. Nobody that I've seen will win all ten, so what we have to do is select a candidate that beats the DEM's on a national basis.
Everybody ought to do a compare to Hillary/Obama for all the candidates (or their own reqs. list).
Well now, let's see - how long has Duncan Hunter been a member of Congress?
And how long has illegal immigration been at the front of his campaigns - and his efforts in Congress?
How many San Diego residents can recite the number of programs he has led to stop immigration?
Duncan Hunter is a good man - a great American - but he is a legislator - he has zero history of administrative leadership.
That said - I am glad he is in this campaign. He WILL be a net plus for all of us.
I just don't think he has a prayer.
he'll tell Mexico, "Stop the invasion."
Oops, guess I'm not being inclusive or demonstrating the
proper attitude toward the goal of diversity, et cetera.
