Rep. Duncan Hunter on Pundit Review Radio (excellent 30 minute audio interview)
Pundit Review ^ | Monday February 19th, 2008 | Kevin

Posted on 02/19/2007 7:57:07 AM PST by ajolympian2004

Last night we welcomed Congressman Duncan Hunter, (R-CA), to Pundit Review Radio. Rep. Hunter is one of the leading conservative candidates running for President.

Rep. Hunter was incredibly generous with his time, spending more than 30 minutes with us discussing a wide range of topics. Of course, we asked him about the anti-surge, non-binding resolution that was passed this weekend. He had some pointed criticism of his colleagues, and questioned how much they understood about the surge, from a tactical level. According to the Rep. Hunter, it is all about politics, and has little to do with the surge itself.

We also talked about immigration, as Hunter has one of the toughest stances on this issue in Congress. He spoke of the fence that runs along the San Diego border and how effective it has been. We also asked him what should be done about the Border Agents who have been thrown in jail for a dozen years for shooting a drug smuggler. We took some great calls from WRKO listeners who asked what separated Hunter from the leaders in the GOP race, like McCain, Rudy and Romney.

My favorite part of the interview was when Rep. Hunter opened up about his own family, he talked eloquently about his father and how the call to military service was passed to him, and now, on to his son. Speaking of his son, Congressman Hunter told a great story about his son’s decision to join the military on 9-11, it is incredibly inspirational.

This guy is solid and deserves strong consideration for your vote for president in the Republican primaries. To learn more about his campaign, click here. We look forward to having him back on Pundit Review Radio as the campaign heats up in the coming weeks.

This interview is also available for download at iTunes and Podcast Alley.

I still believe that your unwillingness to support Giuliani if he wins the nomination is tantamount to treason to the party.

Oh please, you STILL believe? You never said you believed that in the first place!

You don't like treason? Then explain your boy Rudy's support for Mario Cuomo instead of supporting George Pataki for Governor of New York State? If that isn't 'treason to the party', tell me what is you drama queen!!!

Take all the time you want.

Your sad.

Why? For pointing out to a Rudy-bot Troll that they should take their their talking points to a more appropriate forum?

I see you too, are a relative newcomer (signed up February 9, 2007), tell your fellow Troll 'politicalman' that I'm still waiting for an explanation for his bizarre and off-the-wall private messages to me via Freepmail.

You Rudy-bots are a sight to behold.

I'm not a Rudy-bot or any bot. But I do know one thing for sure, Duncan Hunter isn't going to win the primary.

Hey you established the standard for supporting the party nominee no matter what, now defend it smart arse. Are you trying to say that Mario Cuomo was anti-gun-control, anti-abortion and that is why Rudy supported him?

You're only half-clever pal.

You said that not to support the party nominee is 'tantamount to treason' so by your own standard, Rudy Guiliani is a TRAITOR to the New York Republican Party.

Explain your way outta that one.

Well good news for you Sparky, Madame Cleo retired to Jamaica a long time ago, and I'm sure her outfit can use a brand new psychic. By all means, apply for the job if you're that good.

This isn't about online betting, pools, or wagers. This is about organizing grass roots support for the candidate of our choice. This happens to be a Duncan Hunter thread, if you don't think he can win, you ought to find a thread for the candidate YOU think can win.

It's easy to be a critic, but do tell: who do YOU support?

Thanks for the ping Antoninus! I just listened. This is the first time I've heard Congressman Hunter speak at any length.

I am impressed. He's looking better and better to me!

Hunter has the credentials, but lacks the governing experience, persona and charisma necessary to win. So I am not for Hunter. I am on this thread to explain WHY he can't win to people that actually believe he has a chance, which he does not. As far as any of the other candidates, I am undecided. We are going against the Clinton political machine in this one. It is going to take a candidate with unique ability to win this.

For someone who is so utterly oriented around the State of Michigan, I find it curious that you are focusing your negative efforts on a solid conservative Republican Congressman from California, who has more national security experience and expertise than any other candidate in the field. We're approximately a year away from even the first primaries, why do you think it is so critical to knock down Hunter at this early stage when you claim you don't even know who you're going to support?

Of COURSE it is sheer coincidence that Michigan is the home state of George Romney and his son Willard Mitt Romney, right?

Of course it is.

Heh. My friend, you are not fooling anyone here.

Uh, yeh. It IS a sheer coincidence. As far as Romney, I personally think he should move BACK to Michigan so he can run for the Governorship AFTER Granholm's term expires.

Well I posted the entire exchange in this thread but for some reason it got nuked, I'm guessing that 'politicalman' went whining to the mods about it, there is no doubt in my mind that he/she is an unpaid volunteer RudyBot troll, because they've produced nothing worthy of anything more than maybe pocket change for coffee from the Giuliani campaign to this point.

Now on THAT we can agree, Mitt Romney would make a FINE Governor for Michigan, and maybe you all could ship Granholm back to Canada, eh? ;)

Well well well. First of all, I am not a Rudy fan at all. I was thinking of supporting Duncan Hunter in the primary. My point is this, all the name-calling and insults are pretty sad. Trying to suppress the opinions of others sounds to me like the liberals who disrupt conservative speakers on campuses. As for being new on the site, I am. I have been reading comments on Free Republic for about a year now and just recently decided to join. I didn't realize that I would be attacked because I am new. The RABID nature of attacks on people with opposite views does not help your candidate and may actually hurt them.

If you've been reading (lurking) on FR for a year, you would be VERY familiar with the cautious skeptism members have with new posters (potential TROLLS). Not to mention some who have been around a little longer. Welcome to FR.
