Last night we welcomed Congressman Duncan Hunter, (R-CA), to Pundit Review Radio. Rep. Hunter is one of the leading conservative candidates running for President.
Rep. Hunter was incredibly generous with his time, spending more than 30 minutes with us discussing a wide range of topics. Of course, we asked him about the anti-surge, non-binding resolution that was passed this weekend. He had some pointed criticism of his colleagues, and questioned how much they understood about the surge, from a tactical level. According to the Rep. Hunter, it is all about politics, and has little to do with the surge itself.
We also talked about immigration, as Hunter has one of the toughest stances on this issue in Congress. He spoke of the fence that runs along the San Diego border and how effective it has been. We also asked him what should be done about the Border Agents who have been thrown in jail for a dozen years for shooting a drug smuggler. We took some great calls from WRKO listeners who asked what separated Hunter from the leaders in the GOP race, like McCain, Rudy and Romney.
My favorite part of the interview was when Rep. Hunter opened up about his own family, he talked eloquently about his father and how the call to military service was passed to him, and now, on to his son. Speaking of his son, Congressman Hunter told a great story about his sons decision to join the military on 9-11, it is incredibly inspirational.
This guy is solid and deserves strong consideration for your vote for president in the Republican primaries. To learn more about his campaign, click here. We look forward to having him back on Pundit Review Radio as the campaign heats up in the coming weeks.
This interview is also available for download at iTunes and Podcast Alley.

This is a false premise in search of a rationale. NONE of the people who vote for Democrats CARE if they're hypocrites; they ONLY care if they get their handouts. They don't pay attention enough to anything else to care. Hell, even most Republicans think Rudy is a conservative. When the Democrats blow his cover a GOTV effort will be futile because the base will stay home once the Democrats tell them he's pro-gay, anti-gun, and pro-death.
The hypocrisy of the position won't matter one bit.
I would recognize his voice ... he's the genuine article, sir.
He'll jump to Third Party.
Horsecrap. Upon finding out Rudy's NARAL-award-winning pro-choice views, 20 percent of pubbies said they would not vote for him, and another 25 percent had serious misgivings about him.
I intend to vote for Duncan in the primaries. If he doesn't get the nomination, there is a possibility that his showing in the primaries might effect the invasion issue AND get him the VP position from which he could make headway in building the fence and closing the invasion route down while working on reforming trade problems. I would personally like to see our nation have a working VP so if the Prez is incapacitated the working VP could step in more readily with a staff that is active in more than PR and maintenance of the VP.
"And terrorism is a more important issue, by far, in the minds of Americans, than abortion and gun control."
I would argue that abortion and gun control are terrorism. The American Holocaust has claimed 48 million victims so far. And I fear losing my right to keep and bear arms more than I do the "terrorists".
But Duncan Hunter supports the right to life, 2nd amendment, and would aggressively fight the WOT. With him I wouldn't have to compromise my principles.
BTW, are you employed by the Giuillaini campaign?
It's amnesty by any definition of the word. Folks like you try to give it a new definition. And then the Rudy boosters turn around and say he'd be a strict constructionist after they deconstruct the clear meaning of words. BWAHAHA!
That was as assinine a post as I've read at FR in a while. You are implying that you are intimately aware of ALL the financial affairs of your friends, and if you have any, your wealthy friends! So, which candidate are you shilling for?
He wasn't my mayor. Nor most people in the GOP heartland. He's OK for NYC, but too liberal for the rest of us. And he isn't a "tough, strong anti-terror hero" - his one involvement in the anti-terror issue was a colossal foul-up when he pushed his corrupt crony Bernie Kerik for the most important anti-terror job in the country.
You act like we haven't been shooting down the Rudy booster nonsense here on FR for several weeks and can now take out this blather in our sleep.
Duncan Hunter might be a great VP - if his role is to take certain issues and become the front man - immigration is a great example. He is not shy.
Also Duncan Hunter might be an exceptional cabinet officer - SECDEF - perhaps.
Like you say - assuming he does not get the nomination himself - you never know - long long way to go.
Or his good buddy Bernie Kerik. BWHAHAHA!
Oh, and Rudy has defended the lackluster anti-terror efforts by Bill Clinton. So he's not even serious about figuring out how 9-11 happened, and he pushed a corrupt crony to try and prevent it from happening again.
Other than that, he's solid on the WOT. BWAHAHAHA!
Yes, there are other issues, but the WOT is the only one mentioned with monotonous regularity by the Rudycrats, and Rudy's qualifications there are entirely hype, not substance. The only conservative track record Rudy has is crime control and tax cuts, but those achievements were in a state nearly destroyed by socialism. Boris Yeltsin looks good compared to his Soviet predecessors, too, but that doesn't make him a great leader. And most of Rudy's achievements were simply doing a job any mayor should do.
