Last night we welcomed Congressman Duncan Hunter, (R-CA), to Pundit Review Radio. Rep. Hunter is one of the leading conservative candidates running for President.
Rep. Hunter was incredibly generous with his time, spending more than 30 minutes with us discussing a wide range of topics. Of course, we asked him about the anti-surge, non-binding resolution that was passed this weekend. He had some pointed criticism of his colleagues, and questioned how much they understood about the surge, from a tactical level. According to the Rep. Hunter, it is all about politics, and has little to do with the surge itself.
We also talked about immigration, as Hunter has one of the toughest stances on this issue in Congress. He spoke of the fence that runs along the San Diego border and how effective it has been. We also asked him what should be done about the Border Agents who have been thrown in jail for a dozen years for shooting a drug smuggler. We took some great calls from WRKO listeners who asked what separated Hunter from the leaders in the GOP race, like McCain, Rudy and Romney.
My favorite part of the interview was when Rep. Hunter opened up about his own family, he talked eloquently about his father and how the call to military service was passed to him, and now, on to his son. Speaking of his son, Congressman Hunter told a great story about his sons decision to join the military on 9-11, it is incredibly inspirational.
This guy is solid and deserves strong consideration for your vote for president in the Republican primaries. To learn more about his campaign, click here. We look forward to having him back on Pundit Review Radio as the campaign heats up in the coming weeks.
This interview is also available for download at iTunes and Podcast Alley.

Stop being a goose and check his web-site. He put up a wall that's keeping illegals out of San Diego--even as we speak.
And lots of other things . . . educate yourself, FRiend.
I am from San Diego.
Listen - I like Duncan Hunter - but you have to know this.
He was tangled up in the Duke Cunningham fiasco.
It will come out and it will damage him.
The two of them were best friend - very best friends.
Oh - Duncan Hunter know nothing about Duke's odd increases in money, homes, boats, cars, art work, furniture, vacations...
Skeletons.
Again - I like Duncan Hunter (honest) but he has a lot of baggage that will surface on the Duke Cunningham ADCS bribery scandal:
Taken from the USA Today - November of 2005, this just a sample of what Duncan Hunter may have to deal with.
WASHINGTON A San Diego businessman under investigation in the bribery case of former congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham is a well-known GOP fundraiser whose generosity to key members of Congress came at the same time his company saw large increases in its government contracts, public records show.
Brent Wilkes, the founder of defense contractor ADCS Inc., gave more than $840,000 in contributions to 32 House members or candidates, campaign-finance records show. He flew Republican lawmakers on his private jet and hired lobbyists with close ties to those lawmakers.
Since 1994, Wilkes and ADCS gave $40,700 in campaign contributions to Rep. Duncan Hunter, a San Diego Republican who now chairs the House Armed Services Committee. Hunter has acknowledged that he joined with Cunningham in 1999 to contact Pentagon officials who reversed a decision and gave ADCS one of its first big contracts, for nearly $10 million. Hunter's spokesman, Joe Kasper, said the congressman was unavailable for comment Tuesday.
Wilkes' ties to Hunter and Cunningham go beyond campaign contributions. In 2003, the businessman's foundation hosted a "Salute to Heroes" gala to give Hunter an award, just as it did for Cunningham a year earlier. The Wilkes Foundation gave $1,000 in 2003 to a charity run by two of Hunter's staffers, records show.
Wilkes also provided a jet that Cunningham and other Republicans used for more than a dozen flights to campaign fundraising events since 2001, records show.
Providing flights gives donors a chance for hours of one-on-one contact with the lawmaker they want to influence, said Keith Ashdown of the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense.
"Most other lobbyists would give up their second lung to get that kind of access," Ashdown said. "It's not always illegal, but it's definitely a strategy of influence that's unparalleled."

Keep gathering your facts. I will ping you from time to time. I hope that is okay.
The Trash fest gets old real quick. I am on record. I want Hunter but I do like Rudy.
Okay, I have to go and translate an Arabic article. Have a great day!
He seems to be OK, but maybe he has spent to much time in congress. I am thinking this cycle people may shy away from an 'insider'. He does seem to have good credentials.
Therein lies the problem.
"Theoretically speaking, if Giuliani is the nominee for the GOP for '08 he will have to choose someone like Duncan Hunter as VP. So far I like what I'm hearing in this interview. Duncan doesn't beat around the bush when answering questions and he is an obvious expert on military affairs."
It makes no difference who Rudy would pick for VP, he still doesn't get my vote.
The elections are too far away for us to know for certainty who the people will vote for or not vote for. I know the threads are full of polls but they are meaningless. If you like Hunter, then vote for him. That should be your only stipulation. (Again, my opinion only)
"Hillary is not exactly a southern darling either. Giuliani would beat her in the South AND probably in a couple of Northern States."
You haven't been listening, have you? There is no way a sizeable percentage of conservatives are ever going to vote for Rudy. The sooner you all learn that the sooner we can get a real conservative who will win. Go Duncan Hunter!!
Go Hunter!
I won't vote for a gun grabber. Ever!
"Your claim that Rudy supports illegal "amnesty" is misleading. It's not amnesty. It's called "earning it" and most Americans support this plan. illegal immigrants already here for 5 years stay & work if they learn English, pay back taxes and a fine, and have no criminal record."
Does not the fact that they are here illegally indicate a criminal record?
Now this is truly silly. Do they pay you for this kind of garbage newbie?
Democrats only care about ONE thing, power. Gays, blacks, old folks, welfare moms, they're all indentured constituencies to which they throw a few crumbs while they sell favors to the extremely rich.
They would be accused of hypocrisy.
Gasp!
HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW!!!!
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
Since when have liberals ever cared about being accused of hypocrisy?
Am not impressed with Mr Hunter. I don't believe he is a staunch Republican, and there are thousands who sound just like him that call the radio talk shows. He's porobably one of the regular callers.
"Giuliani would beat her in the South AND probably in a couple of Northern States."
That's right. There are lots of Northern partial-birth abortion fans, gun grabbers, amnesty advocates, and gay-rights people who are always just sitting on the fence, waiting for an excuse to vote Republican in 2008. /sarc
"illegal immigrants already here for 5 years stay & work if they learn English, pay back taxes and a fine, and have no criminal record."
Every single illegal immigrant HAS a criminal record, by definition!
