I've checked and seen nothing posted about the premier pilot of the 1/2 Hour News Hour on this forum.
I want more of this show. I laughed throughout.
The satire was crisp, delivery was very good.
The best thing about parodies and satires which grab at one's funny bone is that they are true and factual. The jabs delivered last night were true and factual. And Real.
I and my family enjoyed the 1/2 Hour News very much, and wish it were more than 1/2 hour long -- and covering the range of "news du jour".
How about you?
I loved the satire commercials on the ACLU
Laugh track ? There was a live audience.
If that was a live audience, they must have kept them in solitary confinement for a few weeks prior to the show, watching Al Franken skits.
From what I understood, it wasn't a laugh track. Those were real people, mostly conservatives, in the audience.
IT wasn't a laugh track. It was a live audience, from what I understood from previous articles about it.
I loved the show! Just sent a note to comments@foxnews.com telling them they have a hit.
They should expand the show and offer it more often. Also, add it to the regular FOX TV lineup...would be much better than the garbage that Fox TV has now!
Send a THANK YOU note to Fox news and then copy your friends on the note...we need to get the word out!
How a serious news channel can broadcast a comedy show is beyond me. If Fox wants a conservative comedy show, put it on the Fox network. Airing this on their news channel is an unbelievably dumb idea and I'd be surprised if plenty of their news staff isn't opposed to it.
Had CNN produced a faux news show featuring the likes of Michael Moore and Randi Rhodes, the derision on this board would have been deservedly vocal.
I missed it last night :(
...was cleaning up from installing wood flooring in my home...1 room left to go!
Some of the jokes didn't work because they were too truthful (not satirical enough). But overall I liked it alot.
Maybe they're jealous they weren't consulted?
I found it hilarious and I was there for the first SNL season. I think this was just what we all have been needing and I also think that if we don't stop being so stuffed about it we aren't ever going to get off the dime and actually HAVE a media worth mentioning.
You know, Rush also took a while to learn the ropes, back in the eighties, so how about all you folks who found it mildly funny, if that, just watch for a while and get into the flow, eh?
Just like in real life, half the posters here have their glasses half empty. For crying out loud people, it was the first show and IT IS THE ONLY RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE SHOW ON ALL, I SAY ALL OF TELEVISION. How about we give it a few weeks before bellyaching.
You've linked to specifically the segment intro with Rush and Ann, and then to the entire 1/2 News Hour Show.
Thank you, Pookie18 -- had been watching a "trekky" show, flipped over to Fox JUST in time to utterly missed Rush and Ann.
I think their intro was perfectly done and delivered. Casual, and letting the audience know, we were about to have some fun. To kick back and enjoy.
I certainly did. :)
I suspect the Libs' disgrunted response to the 1/2 News Hour might be in sync with some of the posters posting in this thread.
I agree.
Thousands of folks across the US watch Greta Sustern's show, for example, and actually think they are watching "objective" news. When, they aren't.
Every now and then I watch the shows they feature starring liberals, and I laugh out loud every single time!
The difference with me, perhaps, than from other conservatives, I know that libs deliver their comedy shows with straight faces. Dead and deadpan. Grim-faced is the perfect description of liberal commentators. They really are quite funny. They just don't know it. Yet.
And the more conservatives get upset by the Grim-Faced Entertainers, the more the libbies enjoy the show.
Enter now, a show for conservatives to enjoy: The 1/2 Hour News Hour. Delivered tongue in cheek, based on facts, as an intro.
This is fair and balanced reporting. :)
I missed it. Anyone know if it will be on again?
