The political world turned upside down after vietnam, and the political world has turned upside down after 9/11. No president in modern times has had to deal with such a threat. Mobile is located in Alabama... I can name one canidate that did run on stopping illegal invasion from Alabama and won by a landslide.

He probable has a better voting record than even Duncan Hunter.
