Giuliani's problem with the religious [large graphics]

Posted on 02/18/2007 4:12:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson

I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.

excuse me for interrupting but FR polls have no value... they are not able to measure anything because you can vote more than once under certain circumstances (like you have two FREEPnames).... so its not even an accurate measure of those responding because not everyone responds at the same rate -- they may be fun to talk about, but that's all.

Even John Kerry and Murtha served. Like them....You're a domestic enemy and a traitor that has gone against your sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

To: All; Al Simmons; Mia T
Emmett Tyrrell on Rudy Giuliani:

The 'logic' of those refusing to vote for Rudy:

Rudy is a too 'liberal' 'New Yorker' so they will place their de facto vote for missus clinton, a Stalinist New Yorker, albeit fake, (fake New Yorker, not fake Stalinist), who

• as one-half of the 'twofer,' is the proximate cause of 9/11,

• is an abuser of women in her own right,

• is avidly pro-abortion,

• would nominate justices in the mold of Ruth Bader Ginsburg,

• would resume clinton sale of our nuclear secrets and mineral rights to the enemy,

• would sic the IRS and the clinton 'secret police' on all opponents and critics,

• would nationalize healthcare,

• would decimate the military,

• would reinstitute the clinton policy of ignoring of terrorism,

• would raise taxes...

• even as she and her rapist husband rake in millions in quid pro quos for their slush fund foundation,

• would confiscate profits, end capitalism, if she could, etc., etc.

It does the conservative cause no good to become petulant and self-destructive.

Do conservatives really want

• a Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court instead of an Alito, Roberts or Scalia?

• marginalization, if not worse, of their religious beliefs?

• a return to the amorality, immorality and corruption of the clinton years?

• and G-d knows what depth of failure in the War on Terror?

I find it hard to believe that those people aren't able to discern the difference between Giuliani and Clinton. Frankly, if true, it is frightening.

I am advocating for Giuliani not because of his ideology. I am advocating for him because I believe he possesses the qualities that this country desperately needs in these perilous times... and because I believe he, unlike all the others, will win.

Al Simmons erroneously attributes the above to R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., when in fact they are the words, opinion, and interpretations of Mia T.
Al Simmons refused to retract his post, so, like the good and decent conservative that I am I took the initiative and did it for this irresponsible Giuliani supporter.

Mia pinged per FR posting rules.

Thank you for so kindly repeating Mia's incisive points again.

But had you actually read every post in this thread, you might have found where Mia informed me of my error, and my then acknowledging the same along with a link to the real tyrrell article.....

Thanks for your exposure on this. I've seen the Rudybots posting it everywhere, claiming it is quoting Tyrrell. Not that I care much about Tyrrell to begin with. But to dishonestly represent Tyrrell to support their leftwing mayor on a conservative board is the height of dishonesty.

I am sick ogf the false dilema "Rudy OR Hillary", aqs though those two are the only possible choices.

A nation of 3oo million surely has more good candidates than two who share the same bad taste in dresses.

There is nothing dishonest about a simple error. The way Mia's original post was set up could easily lead you to believe that the entire thing was a quote.

When the error was pointed out to me by Mia earlier on this thread, I acknowledged it, then found and posted a link to the real Tyrrell article.

And, unlike some Ostriches around here, I am firmly on record stating that I will support WHOEVER the GOP nominates against Hitlary. At this point I think Rudy has the best chance of beating Hitlary. Should that change I will be the first to acknowledge it.

I don't consider myself a one-issue voter but the wife and and I are old and live in a rural area. I don't think that we would live in this beautiful area if we were unable to defend ourselves with firearms. Therefore, I would never vote for any candidate who would work toward disarming the American public.

What I am trying to say is that the admiration for the Second Amendment and collection of guns are not the only reasons to vote against a gun-grabber (hate that term but can't think of a better one).

The other Rudybots aren't so scrupulous. But then, they're liberals anyway so the standard is admittedly low.

A nation of 300 mil yet some are optimists, and some pessimists. Those pushing Giuliani for the G.O.P. nomination, I'm afraid, we can include amongst the latter.

What Rudy is going to do, and I'm a supporter, is do to the Dobsons, Lands and Mohlers et al what Bill Clinton only dreamed of doing with them. And that is to defang them and their influence. Additionally, he will devalue their influence in the running of the party.
