GOP Assemblyman Vincent Ignizio Gains Rudy Giuliani's Support

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has endorsed GOP Assemblyman Vincent Ignizio in Tuesday's special election for the South Shore City Council seat.

"Vincent is clearly the best choice for the job," said Giuliani, a 2008 Republican Party contender for president.

"He has the experience and record of success to represent the people of Staten Island in the City Council."

Ignizio (R-South Shore) is facing Democrat Manny Innamorato in the special election to fill the seat left vacant by state Sen. Andrew Lanza (R-Staten Island).

Giuliani said Ignizio, a former chief of staff to Lanza and GOP South Shore Councilman Stephen Fiala, was "far and away the most experienced candidate in this election."

"Vincent got the job done then," Giuliani said, referring to Ignizio's previous Council work, "and will work even harder as your next city councilman."

Ignizio said he was "honored" to have the support of Giuliani, who was widely praised for guiding the city through the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Said Ignizio:

"Mayor Giuliani made our great city governable again, lowered crime and became the pillar of American patriotism and leadership in our most pressing hour of need."

I thought Rudy Giuliani's support was only good when he gives aid and comfort to a democrat nominee.

Doesn't surprise me - look at ignizio's own claims of accomplishments - reads like a socialist's wet dream - government spending and nanny state controls.

Thanks for posting this - yet another thing to go against rudy. These are the kind of politicians he supports.

Vote for a liberal, you'll get liberalism.
Don't vote (D/L). Don't vote (R/L). Don't vote for a letter of the alphabet.
Vote for a philosophy.
Vote for a Conservative and get Conservatism.

So does Sean Hannity, Michael Reagan, and George Will. Pragmatic conservatives know what they are talking about.

Looks like Rudy's headed for a coronation.

No, Nanci Pellosi was coronated.

If Rudy wins the presidency, it will be in the time honored and Constitution honored way of winning a majority of the Electoral College.

Roger great stuff.

Thirty-four years in New Mexico--how many New Mexicos is New York City.

Has Bill Richardson made New Mexico anything but tired of his self-promotion.

Rudy is the poster boy for the Republicans' delivery on promises made.

Richardson is the poster boy for Democrat non-solutions, e.g., North Korea, Darfur, etc.
