With the bare fact being that no Republican in recent memory has been able to win a major contest without at least the tacit backing of the religious right, Rudy Guliani might be trying to buck that trend.

Fair enough.
Keep in mind she/he invited me to give her scriptures.
I've never said there weren't others. And I've been pretty clear that Rudy was not my first choice. If you saw anything I posted in 2006, you'd probably know that. But, my first choice imploded.
I have said that, of the current list, I believe Rudy is the best choice and also that he is the one with the best chance to win.
That's a judgement call I made after careful consideration of the others.
With a couple of exceptions I don't have anything against the other candidates. I'm just not inspired by them.
FWIW, trashing the candidate that I DO happen to be supporting will NEVER convince me to support someone else.
It's just that simple.
That said, I have also consistently said that I will support the GOP nominee.
But you're not allowed to judge him/her.
Ignore these personal comments to you. They are understandably frustrated. But they do not know how to deal with the changing country, and it has changed. Thank you for so eloquently stating what so many feel.
Rudy is pro-choice. Pro-gun-control. Pro-amnesty and sanctuary city. Pro-gay-rights. Pro-CFR. And pro-global warming.
How is stating those facts - that Rudy has a lot of non-conservative positions - trashing?
Not good. If Rudy wants the nomination, and the presidency, he needs to face the music with these people. Soon.
Gee, Hildy, I'm still waiting for you to apologize for posting a keyword about Rudy that I did not post. I'd hope that if you are so concerned about personal comments that you'd start with your own posts first.
Yes HE did. (HE thought you said you knew him from the religion wars).
But what HE took offense at (here's your context dirtboy) is the comment "You trust Rudy, I will trust God."
THAT was the comment HE considered out of line.
But you two carry on your fine conversation. If you can't tell a man from a woman, HE seriously questions your ability to judge on other matters.
If it fulfills some deep repressed emotional need, you may have the last word.
Thanks.
I rarely post over there anymore myself.
the keyword was transvestite. If you didn't post it, I apologize. It was a another crazy anti-Guiliani person.
Thanks. We're all wearing our emotions on our sleeves, and we're still a good 18 months out.
We're all better off if this doesn't get personal. But sometimes it's too easy to hide behind a keyboard and say things we wouldn't say face to face.
FWIW, I have multiple regrets from the religion wars.
We can get through all of this and be civil about it.
Peace.
Lighten up, "Francis."
I'm calling you on that one, "Tommy." Where have any of us supported abortion? We're opting for the one means by which Roe v. Wade will be modified or out-right repealed -- continuing to put originalists on the Supreme Court. I can't believe that after the last 30+ years we still need to draw a picture for you people.
For all your chest-pounding, you have no strategy for seriously restricting abortions in this country.
I think God has pretty much run out of patience with people who put their trust in government and politics to put things to right.
Piety has nothing to do with it, I am an atheist.
[And my screen name here is also not an issue (he was a friend of Ben Franklin, member of Parliament, a Baron, exchequer, postmaster general and colonel of the Buck's militia).]
